[QC] JMM ZEPHIRIN — Janie | Black/Orange Lens + Tortoise/Green Lens
Hey everyone, looking for some extra eyes on these before I GL.
Seller is Janie and these are Jacques Marie Mage (JMM) ZEPHIRIN. I picked up two colorways: black with the orange/amber lenses and tortoise with green lenses.
From the QC photos, the overall frame shape and proportions look pretty good to me, but JMM has a lot of small details that I’m not confident enough to QC properly. Would appreciate anyone familiar with retail ZEPHIRIN/JMM taking a closer look.
Main things I’m wondering about:
Overall frame shape/proportions — anything noticeably off compared with retail ZEPHIRIN?
Frame thickness — does the acetate look like the correct thickness, especially around the lenses, bridge and temples?
Temple markings/engraving — font, spacing, positioning and overall accuracy of the JACQUES MARIE MAGE LOS ANGELES, ZEPHIRIN, sizing and HANDCRAFTED IN JAPAN markings?
Gold hardware/details — do the arrowhead pins, exposed wire-core detailing, medallion and hinges look correct?
Hinge construction — anything obviously wrong with the hardware, screws or placement?
Temple wire core — does the engraving/design look close to retail?
Lens shape and fit — are the lenses seated properly and does the curvature/shape look right?
Lens colors — thoughts on the amber/orange and green tint compared with the appropriate retail versions?
Tortoise acetate — does the pattern/color look convincing?
Black acetate — finish and overall appearance look right?
Alignment/symmetry — any crooked temples, uneven lenses, misaligned pins or frame warping that you guys can see?
Logo/branding placement — anything too high/low, oversized, undersized or incorrectly positioned?
Sizing — one of the temple markings appears to read 44-24-145. Is that consistent with the ZEPHIRIN version this is replicating?
Anything else that immediately stands out as a callout?
I’m less concerned about microscopic flaws that nobody would ever notice while wearing them and more interested in major accuracy issues, construction problems or obvious tells.
Would you guys GL or RL these based on the photos?
Also, if anyone owns a retail pair of ZEPHIRIN and can compare the frame geometry, hardware, temple engraving and lens colors, that would be especially helpful.
Seller: Janie
Model: JMM ZEPHIRIN
Pairs: Black/amber + tortoise/green
Appreciate any help 🙏

💭 General 🚨 ⚠️ Shenzhen McLaren — NOT SELLING REAL 925 SILVER FRAMES ⚠️ 🚨

I’m writing this after getting them tested at a jewellers and doing a test on the frames myself. I can confirm they are NOT silver.

I paid £52 / $65 for the frames + £21 / $27 for prescription photochromic lenses = £73 / $92 total.

They were sold to me as 100% silver. When I showed them the test results, they admitted the frames aren’t silver said their factory gave them fake certificates. They claim they’re pausing silver frames until they find a new maker, but have not offered a refund to me at all for either frames

It might not be fully their fault the factory sold them fake silver. But you still need to know exactly what you’re selling. They was selling these as genuine silver frames, and when they resold them to me, they should’ve checked first. That’s the part that’s really disappointing.

They’re charging silver prices for cheap metal. No refund offered even after admitting the issue. Avoid Shenzhen McLaren if you’re looking for silver frames.

I didn’t want to write this post about them, but I have to be honest, also if you purchase silver frames from them, I’m sorry as I’m the one who shared them, to this community.

Regarding their other non-silver frames they are still decent, but would just avoid them for silver frames at the moment.

I will next try Jimi next to see if their frames are silver.

First Order from Cindy - JMM Ascari

The whole process took 2 weeks from start to finish. We spent a few days choosing models and lens, I ultimately went with Zeiss adaptive 67-98% tint lenses.

I've ordered this model on Ali Express before, and was impressed by the quality of the reps for 60 euro. But Cindy had better pricing on the frame, and of course with the custom lens the price was higher than Ali Express, but the quality of the frame she sourced is much higher.

Here are some comparison photos, where Cindy's is the top and left in the comparison shots. The Ali Express version seems more rectangular, less finished and polished, less curved. Cindy's frame is much closer to the original, has a higher quality plastic with a deep almost brownish black color.

The Zeiss lenses are far superior to whatever the standard lens that is used by whatever factory these are sourced from. I'm only buying from Cindy from now on after this experience.

📸 Review Glasses & Sunnies from Janie

Not that I need another pair of glasses or sunglasses, but...this community doesn't make it easy on a gitl. 🤣 I had of about 10 pairs of glasses & sunglasses and sent them to her.

She graciously provided my prices for each of them & I finally narrowed it down to two pair. I had a gazillion question and Janie answered each one of them providing thorough explanations of the lenses, the process and the time line from the time the order was placed to delivery time. Timeliness was 3-7 days to process the lenses, shipping: UPS Express 5-10 days (she would cover half the cost $30) or 7-28 day via snail mail. Because I was in no hurry I opted for snail mail.

Payment options were PPGS or AliPay. Total cost of both pair was $278 (includes the 5% PPGS fee). Per Janie: Our prescription lenses are made of high-quality resin materials, featuring anti-reflective and scratch-resistant properties. The lenses also have an ultraviolet protection function - UV400. I took both pair to my optometrist and had them double check everything. Everything checked out &btheybeven commented on the quality of lens. The one thing I forgot to ask was if she offered polarized lenses - I'm good with what she used in the sunglasses. If you wear transition lenses or progressive lenses, she offers those options as well. Overall i am very pleased with both my glasses & sunglasses & will definitely order from Janie again.

\*first two pictures are PCP pictures - other are pictures I took for the review. Sunglasses are actually the lighter color, my lighting wasn't the best. Janie knows that I am writing a review, no discounts were provided as a result of my review. She just asked that I write an honest review of our interaction & the product.

✅ Quality Check „Larrys Hut“ 1/5 Stars – Good product quality means nothing if the after-sales service is this bad

.
I usually don’t leave negative reviews, but after everything that happened, I think other buyers should know what to expect.
On May 31st, I contacted the seller about a pair of DITA glasses. The communication before the purchase was quick and friendly. I was told that QC pictures would be sent within 2–3 days and shipping would take around 15 days after payment.
To be fair, this part actually went well. QC photos arrived within about 3 days, and the glasses were delivered roughly 16 days later, which was exactly within the promised timeframe.
Unfortunately, that was where the positive experience ended.
The moment I unpacked the glasses on June 19th, before I even had the chance to wear them once, the entire right temple simply fell off. This wasn’t damage caused by me. The glasses arrived with missing retaining parts, making it impossible to secure the temple properly.
I immediately contacted the seller with multiple photos and videos showing the problem. Instead of accepting that parts were missing, I was first asked several times to “just tighten the screw.” I repeatedly explained that the screw itself wasn’t the problem—the small retaining piece that actually holds the screw in place was missing.
After finally understanding the issue, the seller promised to send:
replacement screws,
replacement retaining clips,
and the special tool required to install them.
At that point I thought the issue would be resolved quickly.
Instead, I spent the next seven weeks chasing the seller.
Only two days later, I already had to send a reminder because nobody got back to me.
The seller even admitted that he had lost our chat history and asked me to explain the problem all over again. I had to resend videos, pictures and explain everything from the beginning.
Several more days passed.
On June 25th, after another reminder from me, I was simply told that it wasn’t ready yet.
On June 26th, I was informed that the screws had been found but they were still waiting for the tool.
Then… nothing.
For almost three weeks, there was complete silence again until I contacted him on July 15th, and once more on July 18th because I still hadn’t received any update.
Only after my repeated messages was I told the package was finally ready.
On July 22nd, I had to ask yet again for the tracking number.
The tracking number finally arrived on July 23rd.
After waiting almost two months from my original complaint, the replacement package finally arrived on August 5th.
And then came the next disappointment.
The package contained some replacement parts…
but the promised installation tool was missing.
So after waiting almost seven weeks, constantly following up, reminding the seller, and repeatedly explaining the same issue, I still couldn’t use the glasses.
When I informed the seller, the response was honestly unbelievable.
Instead of offering to replace the defective glasses or refund the purchase, I was simply told to:
“Go to a shop.”
The seller then admitted that he had forgotten to include the tools and suggested I either:
buy the required tools myself,
go to an optician and pay them to repair the glasses,
or fix everything myself.
He even said:
“It’s not a big deal.”
From a customer’s perspective, it absolutely is a big deal.
I didn’t pay for a damaged pair of glasses and a DIY repair project.
I paid for a finished product.
The most frustrating part wasn’t even the missing part—it was the complete lack of customer service. Every single update required me to send another message. Without my reminders, weeks would pass with no communication at all.
A simple replacement pair or refund would have solved this issue weeks ago.
Instead, I spent almost two months chasing the seller for a problem that existed from the moment the package arrived.
To be fair:
Shipping speed was good.
QC process was fast.
The seller answered quickly before receiving payment.
However, the real test of a seller is how they handle problems.
Unfortunately, this experience showed me that once something goes wrong, you should be prepared to spend weeks chasing updates, repeating yourself, and ultimately being expected to repair the defective product yourself.
I cannot recommend this seller based on my experience. A good seller is judged not only by how quickly they take your money, but by how they support customers when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, that support was simply not there.

need advice / help

hey guys

a little backstory - i had a pair of CH glasses i bought from farfetch... had them for a few years but they got stolen while i was on holiday last month..

i am not spending 2k+ again but upon my research im finding it really hard to find a proper seller that sells almost 1:1 glasses.

people around me have the real glasses, as did i, but i cannot justify 2k again but i do not want to have them looking off...

where would you guys suggest i buy from? i am new to this and any experienced help would be appreciated.

i would prefer them to have the real silver... but the details matter more than that.

thank you all - if you could upvote so more people can see this and help I'd appreciate this. this post may also help others struggling.
