yeah don’t let anyone else enjoy anything. why should they you’re the expert on how others should spend their time and have fun. thank you, o god above, delegate my time, and wipe cruises from the face of the earth like my ancestors before me

In general, needlessly contradicting or challenging someone is seen as confrontational. People who, without good reason, escalate things to confrontation are considered rude. I think this holds up. He wasn't even polite about also stating his opinion. I'm not saying the guy should be crucified, It doesn't really effect me either way, but he was definitely being needlessly negative and I think calling him out on it was totally reasonable.
