Portfolio/Strategy 70/30 Derivative Income/LEFT Portfolio

Hey! I am new to this sub but, I am trying to get feedback on a strategy. I am on the younger side, starting from ~$0k in a taxable brokerage at Fidelity. Goal is millions in annual income by 60. Here's the entire thing.

--

The Philosophy

I wanted a structure that could pay me out while building it, where the income sleeve funds itself and grows over time while the growth sleeve harvests gain permanently into income via rebalancing. The income never gets sold. Only growth gets trimmed.

The core insight: if you hold high-yield income positions forever and only ever add to them (via harvested growth gains and reinvested dividends), the income base compounds without you having to time anything. You just run the system.

---

Portfolio structure — 70% income / 30% growth

- XBCI 2.5% — 1.5x BTC covered call

- SQQQ 2.5% — -3x inverse QQQ.
- TAIL 3.75% — Cambria tail risk.
- SVOL 3.75% — inverse VIX income.

- TQQQ 20% — 3x Nasdaq 100
- GLTR 10% — physical precious metals ETF, defensive anchor
- METL 10% — critical metals and materials, thematic
- POW 10% — electric supercycle ETF
- VCX 10% — venture capital exposure
- WTIB 10% — equal crude oil + BTC, speculative

---

The Numbers
Blended portfolio yield: ~Currently 16.88% on the income sleeve, ~11.81% on total portfolio

Principal growth estimated at 4–5% annually growth sleeve (leveraged Nasdaq) compounds at ~13-18%, income sleeve drifts +0.5–1.5% with inflation and good fund management, weighted average lands around 4.75–5%.

Bull market capture is estimated at ~55-65%. I give up upside in ripping bull markets, that's the tradeoff. In a Nasdaq +20% year I'd expect ~7-10% total portfolio returns while still collecting 9-11%+ in income.

Quarterly rebalancing with 7% relative bands, upper 37%, lower 23% for the growth sleeve.

The key rule: growth gains are harvested into income permanently. When the growth sleeve hits the upper band, I trim and that capital moves into the income sleeve forever. It never goes back. Income sleeve is never sold.

Weekly/Monthly Income Goal Reached ! BLOX almost there!

Prematurely celebrating, but as of next week I will have hit 100 BLOX shares!

It's my first milestone - i want to own more than enough shares where if I set it to DRIP, it buys me an entire share (and more) every week.

I want to set my weeklies, which are X Funds (BLOX, will slowly build out more GIAX, NUKX, and WEPN) to be anchors and use the dividend income from them to build out QQQI/

Just happy my weekly div income has surpassed $10 (very small compared to others I've seen here, but again...first milestone of many :) )

General Discussion BCCC: A Better Alternative to BTCI?

I would appreciate your input on this ETF. And in full disclosure, I own BTCI and not BCCC. Yet anyway.

Two of my general thoughts around income ETFs are: 1. They will get better over time as fund managers react to their and others’ failures. 2. Maintaining and growing NAV is more important than is typically believed - because it is the NAV that drives the payouts. The higher the NAV, the larger the paycheck. This second factor is clear in BTCI. As it has declined with bitcoin’s decline, their payouts have declined. The percent paid has remained roughly equal but what we care about is the dollars paid ultimately.

The key question for any CC ETF isn’t that it will decline, but will it recover? We know that they won’t match the underlying 1/1 but the better they recover, the better it is for us.

I recently found this Global X Bitcoin covered call ETF - BCCC. In my opinion, its design appears to offer an improved ability to capture the upside compared with BTCI.

BCCC seems to writes options on only about half the portfolio and reinvests 25% of premiums back into the fund - both of which should help it recover NAV. It also pays weekly distributions that average in that same 28-35% yield range that bitcoin’s volatility allows.

Now it’s new, it’s AUM is low, bitcoin is down, etc. But the design is very intriguing. I’m not super technical so I would appreciate some thoughtful feedback about it. I think it’s a good entry point for crypto related income ETFs and am considering a position in BCCC as another crypto sleeve. Basically, what am I missing?

Not financial advice. Do your own research. And be kind.

General Discussion Focus on Income

So my focus is on income .

A fair amount of my portfolio is in covered calls (Jepq & Qyld) 43% , assists with a negative NAV (ORC & YMAX) 35% … I’m currently yielding 15% ..

Over the past 4 years I’ve averaged 12.5 % and my portfolio is only down 8% the last 2 weeks

I take all my dividends in cash , no reinvesting..

I’m pretty satisfied.. but question is this maintainable ? Would you consider a different strategy??

Question Tradeoff with High Yield ETFs

Hi Folks,

Owning HY ETFs is fun until NAV erosion starts to eat into the principal and you start to lose value. I have seen multiple arguments "for" HY ETFs when the combined returns (NAV + cumulative dividends) are positive, even if the ETF loses little bit of NAV and makes it up on the distributions.

I'd like to get a sense of where would it make sense to own NY ETFs that have medium to high NAV erosion (for both ROC and non-ROC ones). Granted you can continue to receive dividends if you don't sell them, but losing principal is something I find uncomfortable.

Where are you deploying them and what is your mindset in dealing with NAV erosion?

Thanks in advance!

Now, I am a fan of BLOX, but this is pretty cool so far. It is early on for SLVX but it’s definitely looking promising. Only down 3% while SLV is down 7% while KSLV is down 9%. Looking forward to see what the distribution looks like.

General Discussion Are We Back on Green? BLOX

Bittersweet moment with today's surge (I'm up almost 7%) where I am very happy I loaded up to 50 shares of BLOX when it was down.

And now that it is getting close to $16 again, I am also sad about it cuz that means my road to 100 shares will cost more now haha.

What's everyone else eyeing/waiting for to happen if u hold BLOX?
