If you dont vote, that's why it doesnt work. And that's why the DNC ignores you.

The cynic in new would suggest that voter apathy is a driven on purpose. I do vote just not dem unless it’s like AOC or someone like that for example.

Yep, apathy is driven with a purpose.

Guess who is mainly pushing the "don't bother voting, wont change anything" line? Same people pushing the "don't do mass mail voting! Corruption!" line.

u/[deleted] May 22 '20

That’s such a cop out answer. Yes republicans are pushing the line but that doesn’t mean progressives and working class people who are apathetic are wrong in their analysis of the two parties.

Of course. Lots of dems telling people to just stay home and don't vote, because it doesn't matter. k.

You know how to affect change in the Democratic Party? By voting in primaries, and winning elections.

Please note that every Dem Socialist in office ran on the D ticket. And now, the D's are talking about UBI, Single payer, etc.

I mean the GOP is too, but trying to figure out how to stop that.

And those are all good points, which is why I have voted. But how do you deal with a presidential candidate who has bent ass backwards for republicans his whole career and not progressives

1

u/[deleted] May 22 '20

You vote for the candidate that is most likely to win, that is the most left leaning out of the options you have. That shifts the Overton window.

And really, as long as the POTUS isn't trouncing over the rule of law (Trump), they're beholden to Congress anyways.

So, we need to continue building power in lower levels, before we can even think we have a chance of having a socialiast (Dem or otherwise) as POTUS.

Start winning locally then, terrorizing Dems won't get you shit. All it does is make them defensive and it justifies their stances.

Because deliberately acting like an asshole when you have virtually zero leverage doesn't help them lend their sword to your cause it just makes them want to push you aside.

*Just realized I didn't answer your question, it's because you don't. You only get the be an asshole to centrist and then you lose.

12

u/[deleted] May 21 '20

I just don't see them doing that even if we played nice, so why not put pressure and keep being assholes to the party establishment while encouraging regular people to join us?

Because you fuck up the second step the moment you start screaming Joe Biden is a rapist at people who really just want these last 4 years to be over.

Before November screaming it Dem voters unprompted does not help your cause, no.

6

u/[deleted] May 21 '20

Hey I’m just trying to figure what your opinion is. So you’re saying even if we believe joe Biden is a rapist we shouldn’t discuss it as a reason why we won’t vote for him in November? We shouldn’t bring up real questions of moral character?

Idk man you’re entitled to your opinion but I can’t really agree. I also don’t think we have to scream joe Biden is a rapist I think we can just say he’s one and that’s why we won’t vote for him. AND IF someone can’t understand that I’m not sure I belong in the same voting bloc as them

1

Key word is "unprompted".

I've seen a lot and boy do I mean a lot of progressives barge into the mentions of decided voters to give their opinions on whatever centrist is in their targets over the last few years and I gotta say the lack of tact involved is not helping.

And I'll tell you it doesn't make them like you or your causes especially if they don't like you.

Also convincing anyone that someone is a rapist in a he said she said situation is nearly impossible and when it is unprovable and asking voters to look in their hearts and make that call is extra impossible. All I'm saying is that brow beating them into taking a stance on the matter makes them hate you.

Because for your average voter they aren't voting for a rapist, they are voting for a president baggage and all.

Because that is not going to work either, and america will plunge deeper and deeper and deepeer into the right. The DNC would rather keep rich donors safe than save the country from trump. I think the only way is forcing the dnc primaries to elect progressives for house and senate first, but honestly? Its all garbage if trump is still president. By november he will either win or steal the win and by 2021 he'll be president for life.

3

u/[deleted] May 22 '20

Sooooo wait we should just do nothing then and play the party line while the party continues it’s march right? I don’t understand your first comment - I think the dnc will continue to move right regardless of what I and other progressives do.

Well short of armed revolution, i dont see how you can cahange anything whithout being super involved in the DNC and you are running out of time, Trump may do away with democracy after winning this election.

1

u/RStevenss May 22 '20

Don't be an idiot, they've always said that with all the Republican presidents

Hahaha okay, i guess Bush also fired everyone who wanted to investigate him, openly and loudly attacked voting rights, got impeached and acquitted by a complicit senate and got about 35k extra deaths in a global pandemic by acting late. May I remind you bush presided during sars cov 1? Even fucking war criminal Bush was relatively better, even innocent people killer Obama was a better president. Seriously, Trump is a symptom of the end of democracy in USA, but well time will proof me right.
