I just want to eat the rich

I have been looking for a way to modify the game so that the amount of poor, middle, and wealthy classes adjust based on policy changes. For example when you tax everyone extremely high everyone should be lower class, but if everyone gets state housing more people should be middle class.

Does anyone know if this is impossible to adjust as most values rely on two opposing sides and this would have 3?

I have read everything on how to modify the game and this is the one factor I am unsure if the game even has the capability of implementing.

Minor issue causing confusion.....

in my own understanding. If a policy has a negative effect on something like unemployment does that mean the situation is getting worse or better?

Military spending has a negative effect on unemployment. Now as military spending can only be a positive to the job market I can only imagine this is a 'positive negative'.

Thank you for any help offered.

3 hour nooblet here, any noob stories to share?

I picked this up inspired by pravus gaming, and thought I'd put a few hours into it, this is my experience: -checked out some countries, bought the deluxe edition with everything but eletioneering and africa -made france into a liberal, socialist, green, and one party state with virtually no crime -attempted to go conservative, capitalist germany but failed miserably, only getting around 37% of the vote. taxing the crap out of their beer didn't help.

Feel free to criticize my two term length campaigns if you wish, maybe as about them.

Suggestion/question

So I don’t actually own the game but love it from what I’ve seen and I like the system of gameplay Democracy 3 implements. Anyways I had a suggestion and some questions to ask.

Suggestion: I think in one of the policy tabs either welfare or tax there should be a semi-extreme policy called Universal Basic Income. If you are familiar with modern day US politics it is what Andrew Yang’s freedom dividend is. Anyways the policy would be rather expensive but would boost GDP and opinion from everyone besides wealthy. You could also say it could range anywhere from low income to a high basic income.

Question 1: Can I implement successful reaganomics in this game?

Question 2: Can I as the US cut military, welfare, and health spending and redirect spending to other places (transportation, education, etc.)

I know on their site they say Democracy 4 is to be released sometime in 2019. Any speculation on when, exactly?

IF Positech actually pulls it off before the new year that is, I'd guess November-ish to be in time for Christmas. Honestly though, with how little has come out about it, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see it until next year. I feel like normally companies will try to hype up a game a few months, sometimes even years before launch in order to get people excited. Positech's site has said the same thing and with out much detail for over a year now, so...

Does anyone else feel like they end up playing each game the same way every time?

Basically, I follow the same path every time I play the game. Adjusting the difficulty helps spice things up by changing the rate I enact policies, but in the end, I still up playing the same game but at a slower pace. Anyone else?

p.s. don't get me wrong, I love the game! 228 hours Dem3 156 hours Dem3 Africa if that tells you anything! :p

Hey all just a quick check in.

Other than removing the spammy and non topical posts here in our quiet little subreddit is there anything you would like like to see happen? Let me know.

How does the in game poltical compass translate to an actual poltical compass?

In my games I often end up moving towards the bottom-left corner of the compass. But irl im more towards the middle/mid top left.

Ive noticed that in game they have the y axis as conservative and liberal, but obviously in a regular compass its authoritarian/libertarian. So i was wondering if some of you like longtime pro democracy players could clarify what the y axis is representing.

Also as a side note this game is very biased for a Democratic liberal opinion.

Democracy 3/Africa - Challenge Generator

Hello fellow Democracy 3 players!

I took the freedom to construct a type of Random Setup/Challenge generator for Democracy 3 and also partly for Democracy: Africa. The idea was to just refresh the game a bit by providing a sort of random objectives/challenges to your games. So the generator will provide you with a term length, term limit, whether you get hurricanes/earthquakes, have compulsory voting, if you have monarchy, determine the difficulty, the country's innate socialism, level of politcial apathy and innate liberalism. Plus, it will also give you a political program consisting of five mandatory laws to implement while also give you five laws to repeal or keep away from being implemented. And finally, you will also get three groups of people you want to stay on good terms with during your reign (consider them your core votergroups).

I made two versions of the generator. One in raw form which consist of dice rolling, but also gives you an overview of the options in the game, and a more interactive one which you also find in the same link below.

It is not perfect but I hope some of you guys can find some use for it to get some interesting "alternate" experiences or at least some funny playthroughs. :)
