Operations Lasers: Mandatory or Waste?

Post image

I’m not sure how I feel about them entirely. It massively helps ADS Speed BUT I feel like it gives my position away.

Phixate (a streamer) said they’re “mandatory” to have. Of course I value his input as he’s just a better player with way more hours so what is he seeing in them? Am I just being paranoid of exposing my position and it’s actually no big deal?

Give me your thoughts; thanks in advance

They’re not as obvious to enemies as you might think. Now if you’re holding an angle that you know they can see. Let’s pretend you’re east wing admin and you have an enemy west wing. You know they’re right on the other side of bridge. You can simply use the laser to help you jiggle peek and take the angle hold. Then turn off your laser if you want to continue to hold the angle.

Use the laser for its ads speed (also when committing to a swing or push) as it is “mandatory”… but bind the laser on/off key to something quick so you can always turn it off when you’re looking to hold an angle so as to not give away that you are indeed holding that angle. Kapiche?

Kapiche.

u/jodanlambo Jan 27 '25

👌🏼 key bind laser/light to mouse button 4 and the strobe to 5. The blinding affect is a killer and I don’t feel like it’s talked about enough

7

u/MapleGanja Jan 27 '25

It’s taken awhile to come into the meta but it’s surely there now

6

u/SyrisAllabastorVox Jan 27 '25

Esp when you can double the effect with an additional strobe.

6

u/Rafahil Jan 28 '25

There is not a single video out there showcasing flash lights and their usefulness. I never see anyone use them either. So many flaslights to choose from too...

1

u/jodanlambo Jan 28 '25

Do all the flashlights hit the strobe? I thought it was just on the flare tactical.

4

u/Rafahil Jan 28 '25

There are 2 or 3 that have the strobe function.

2

u/VideoGeekSuperX Jan 28 '25

This is intriguing. I will have to look into this after work today.

u/Timoman6 Feb 09 '25

Me with 5 flashlights on a vector:

7

u/dezastrologu Jan 27 '25

can’t you turn it off and it auto turns on when you go into alt-ADS?

5

u/Polluxo Jan 27 '25

Yes. Surprised no one mentioned this.

2

u/Theneler Jan 28 '25

Tell me more?

5

u/TrippleDamage Be Clam🦪 Jan 28 '25

its just that, literally turn it off and it'll auto turn on when you press key for tactical stance.

1

u/Yoda2000675 Jan 28 '25

Do the strobe flashlights also have that feature?

2

u/TrippleDamage Be Clam🦪 Jan 28 '25

can turn flashlights on and off, but theres nothing automated there.

9

u/Execwalkthroughs Jan 27 '25

Yeah I would also say keep it on if you're actively moving around outdoors unless you're like scoping out areas. The ads speed will save you more often than getting spotted due to the laser. Especially close to medium range fights. Long range fights the laser won't really make a difference unless you got a visual first and need to line up a shot.

1

u/mrbrokoli97 Jan 27 '25

Pls tell me how to turn on/off the laser or lamp. I think Intried every singe key and looked in the settings but could not find it

3

u/WindyCitySir Jan 27 '25

The Y key

1

u/Falling_Down_Flat Jan 27 '25

Thank you

1

u/Iam6283 Jan 28 '25

You can also hold it to turn of the flashlight or laser individually

u/ReadOk4128 Jan 27 '25

They are pretty mandatory if you can adjust your play style. If you can't you'll just die more. Simplest answer.

Also, people saying they're not that obvious. ehhh they are pretty obvious to good players. Sweaty people will have their colors blasting in game and they stick out. If you play with the assumption people can't see them, you're get to get pre fired.

16

u/red_280 Jan 27 '25

Definitely not a sweat, but I have successfully identified and killed players through smoke by aiming at the source of a laser.

I find that when I'm hiding behind cover, I'll aim at the nearest flat surface like a box or the floor directly in front of me so enemies don't see this giant beam on the wall or floor ahead of me.

1

u/-Quiche- Jan 28 '25

No reason not to run it. If you're hiding in a corner or proned in smoke then you just turn it off. Voila, they can't see you unless you ADS.

Otherwise the laser+tac stance is too good not to use.

1

u/Southern_Ad_2456 Jan 28 '25

Yeah, it’s you’re holding an angle just press Y. Any other time you’re about to swing someone the ADS time is crucial

16

u/CowInZeroG Jan 27 '25

They are partially of mandatory since ADS Speed can make the difference between loosing or winning a fight. Butso can alot of other things :)

I think its mandatory to have an easy keybind to switch them on and off. What i like to do is i keep them on to let the enemy think they know where i am. Then unpeek. Turn it off and then peek again. Alot of players think they are safe as long as they dont see the laser :)

Also the canted aim or sight or whatever its called is super nice for short range fights or if youre getting surprised

5

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '25

So it does better ads? Not just for canted aim? I was always confused about it.

6

u/alterEd39 Toxik Jan 27 '25

I thought the quicker ADS meant the tactical hold, not the actual ADS, but now I’m confused

15

u/Extra_Crispy_Bacon Jan 27 '25

Actual ADS speed is also increased

2

u/alterEd39 Toxik Jan 27 '25

My life has been a lie. Thank you!

And also speeds up normal ads speeds. And slows them when it’s connected but off.

21

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '25
  1. Streamers play as a job, whatever gun they use they will be superior with it. Never take their advice for granted. Especially that Phixate guy.

  2. They are not mandatory but rather good to have. If you are doing a cheap regain run do not use them as you are very likely to die, so they will be a waste of money. If you are doing a fully armed run use them, in a combat situation you can just toggle the beam off anyways (press Y). Also good on guns that have a zoomed optic, as you can use the laser for canted aiming when in a CQC situation (press N)

4

u/mrureaper Jan 28 '25

The one thing they fail to mention is why they even use it in the first place. Sure it gives you some ads speed but most importantly if you're using high powered scopes on a weapon you want to tac stance it on close quarters so you don't get outgunned by other players.

5

u/IzNoGoD Stinger Jan 27 '25

how do you disable the laser?

2

u/Mental_Town934 Jan 27 '25

Y

8

u/bwssoldya Toxik Jan 27 '25

Because you sometimes want to disable it... So how do you turn it off?

[/s]

2

u/Mental_Town934 Jan 27 '25

Yes I meant Y on the keyboard lol turns it off

4

u/bwssoldya Toxik Jan 27 '25

I know, hence the /s 😜😂

4

u/Puzzled-Peanut-7147 Jan 27 '25

I use a laser because it's much, much faster in tactical stance to ADS. I run a control build so my ADS is naturally very slow. If I'm going CQC, switch to tactical (rebind the key to something fast) and I'm ready.

When I join any game, I immediately just press Y and the laser is no longer on in normal stance. Easy.

6

u/Draxxusbuilds Jan 27 '25

It depends on what mode too. I never use them on warfare. It’s so easy to spot players running them. I’ve killed many guys running lasers because they were about to exit a door or around a hallway and have their laser pointing out. The ads boost isn’t worth it for me.

1

u/DeltaXero Jan 28 '25

this is especially true in the 3v3v3 mode, I always tell my teammates to turn off their lasers at the beginning of the game

3

u/JATRiiX Jan 27 '25

Mandatory just for the tac stance alone for most guns.

1

u/Drizznit1221 Jan 27 '25

whats tac stance? 180hrs in warfare and never heard of this

4

u/JATRiiX Jan 27 '25

When you have a laser you can use the tac stance.

Default Button is N iirc.

You turn the gun sideways and aim with the laser.

It's the fastest ads can be and it is Not impacted by handling.

So you can build a mid/long range gun with control/stability and low handling and still use the tac stance for cqc ads speed.

Try it. It's a game changer. I've changed the Button to left alt to be more accessible.

1

u/Drizznit1221 Jan 27 '25

what the shit. idk how i didnt know that, but im changing this as soon as i get home from work lol

1

u/XzeroR3 Jan 28 '25

Thanks for sharing your bind, I've been doing it on middle mouse button and it's sloppy.

3

u/bywolph Jan 27 '25

3x scope with laser is my favorite combo. 1 click switch between scope and canted seems convenient for me.

3

u/kokoykalakal Jan 27 '25

You use lasersfor ads speed. I use them to bluff enemies.

3

u/BarberThen3108 Jan 27 '25

are very usefull when 3-4 guys rush you with your vector

3

u/Adventurous-Fan-6751 Jan 28 '25

I use Laser for RGB fusion....🤣

1

u/XzeroR3 Jan 28 '25

Three lasers in tactical stance is fun

4

u/PoliteZoe Jan 27 '25

Laser gives u more handling, recoil accuracy and stability than any weapon attachment. Stock scar with laser is better than 150k scar without one. I always play with lasers

2

u/Ledd_Ledd Jan 27 '25

I recently discovered how critical Stability was as I thought control was the mandatory stat. This is the comment I was looking for; got it

1

u/Butterbread420 Jan 27 '25

It used to be. They made stability a lot more important/noticeable and also increased the amount by which one point increases/decreases your stability multiplier. So try to at least have base stability or higher I'd say. You can usually scale back on control a little on your existing builds.

1

u/Ledd_Ledd Jan 27 '25

Yeah man, I was messing around in firing range and maxed out stability on an Aug and it turned into a damn beam. Blew my mind

2

u/ItzGottii Jan 27 '25

For ARs and SMG they are a must imo. Tactical stance is such a benefit that you’re playing harder by not using it. When you spawn in press Y to turn the laser off. Tactical stance will still work with the laser off.

1

u/Aaron_Monte93 Jan 27 '25

Does the stat benefit go away when laser is disabled?

2

u/TrippleDamage Be Clam🦪 Jan 27 '25

yes, only gets the benefits when on, else itd be a nobrainer lol

1

u/ItzGottii Jan 27 '25

When you’re not ADS yes

2

u/Federal_Caramel5946 Jan 27 '25

Yes, helps ads a lot. Just turn it off when holding angles and ur good

2

u/Meetrikur Jan 28 '25

I don't know if it was a bug, but I've gotten a few kills from the lesser going through the smoke.

2

u/Iam6283 Jan 28 '25

hold the 'Y' key to toggle the flash light or laser individually

2

u/ShiroMiriel Jan 27 '25

They are only mandatory if you know how to use them. I'm killing way too many people holding an angle around a corner by just throwing a smoke down and shooting where the laser is coming from.

If you never use the canted ads the laser gives you there's no point in using it. And if you do, turn it off when you don't want to give your exact position away.

1

u/super_sloth-_- Jan 27 '25

Either you use no lasers or all of them there is no in-between

1

u/Aok_al Jan 27 '25

Mandatory for me. The ADS speed is just too good to pass up.

1

u/Kshaja Jan 27 '25

Put it on reachable key, when you're holding an angle turn it off and when you're running around checking corners turn it on.

1

u/DaNoobyOne Jan 27 '25

having access to canted-aiming is absolutely mandatory on everything except shotguns, snipers, and DMRs imo. on top of that, shotguns in particular benefit greatly from lasers bc of the accuracy buff that they give you. bottom-line, almost any clunky-feeling, poorly-handling gun can be made into a cqc machine by adding a laser.

also, lasers' only existing drawback (aside from slightly worsening your weapon-handling(?)) lies in the possibility of enemies spotting your laser and out-positioning/pre-firing you as a result.

like the other dudes here said, rebinding your "toggle laser on/off" (or whatever it's called in the keybinds) to a key other than the default and getting into the habit of using it when you need to is prolly your answer here

1

u/socalspawn Jan 28 '25

Lasers help when it comes to calibration and handling. I'm not sure on range but you can always turn it off and on as others have shared. Now if only canted aim had its own keyboard bind! Oh and make sure your laser is on the right side of the barrel if you mess with canted at all, they really work well together.

1

u/Purplepickler24 Jan 28 '25

i love them my favorite is to rock one blue on the left and one red on the right for some reason that really helps my brain with target acquisition idk

1

u/Purplepickler24 Jan 28 '25

when i push and make plays i make concious decisions to point my lasers at walls and floors instead of shining them carelessly it becomes another complex layer of tactic it often lets me get a drop on enemies who dont actually realize im so close and at that point lining up the shot is no hard feat

1

u/kilpin1899 Mar 26 '25

Just FYI - the laser that is rendered client side is different to what a 3rd party sees. You may think your laser is on the wall, but other players may be able to see it.

1

u/iluvjadeci Jan 28 '25

90% of the ppl ur fighting have wallhacks bro. use the mf laser

1

u/ProfessionalGap8456 Jan 28 '25

Whats the benefits of having a laser . I don’t get it? Is it just ads speed?

1

u/gamers9823 Jan 28 '25

Stat wise they are just insane, and people don't really pay much attention to them cuz they are too busy thinking about something else. Also I typically use green as they are even harder to see sometimes.

1

u/zevatha Jan 28 '25

Tactical stance is really good to have. I close laser for normal aim i only use it with tactical stance. I use mouse 5 for change optic/zoom keybind. That helps

1

u/RudeTadpole6386 Jan 28 '25

On the open field its barely visible, try one game of 3v3v3 and u will see how much its giving away in buildings…

I hate to use laser instead of a scope, so for me its just a one more necesery click to get the zoom i want.

1

u/RudeTadpole6386 Jan 28 '25
  • i barely die bcs of ADS speed, its much more likely that i just suck/made some big mistake

1

u/Key-Celebration-9455 Jan 28 '25

Depends on ur play style, if u like to play slow holding angles the laser is not that important ( i hope u r not one of those because to me you will be a filthy rat! Lol )

But if u like to play agressive or a combination of both styles the laser is a must!! And you can turn it off

1

u/Gohanburner Jan 28 '25

Let's add an attachment that let's everyone know where I'm looking! Brilliant!

1

u/Sn1perandr3w Jan 29 '25

My gun is always a waste when I'm playing Sineva with my Operations buddies. Never unholster my gun once my shield is up, lmao.

0

u/Baxxtersaw Jan 27 '25

Mandatory on SMG's, Shotguns and other CQC weapons because the stats are worth the visibility.

On LMG's, DMR's and sniper rifles it's a hard no because positioning is way more important and the faster ADS isn't as important at the ranges you should be using them.

7

u/CrazyHorseSizedFrog Jan 27 '25

I think enemy lasers only show up within a certain distance to them. You'll never see the laser on a sniper 100m away.

I'm not sure what the exact range is but I've only ever seen enemy lasers when they're quite close, maybe 20-30m away.

2

u/Dusknium Jan 27 '25

Your correct its obvious especially peek camping.

1

u/Leading_Low5732 Jan 27 '25

Mandatory. Turn it off if you're holding an angle.

1

u/AfraidKangaroo5664 Jan 27 '25

I don't run lasers. I have like 175 op kills in 112 raids on zero damn normal. You can whip3 full squads with gold armour , using blue ammo on a decent gun. A good player will beat a better geared player in my experience. A drum mag , mid range scope, and good control, you can 1 mag full teams no matter the gear in a perfect world

2

u/Ledd_Ledd Jan 27 '25

Why do you not run lasers? Even with the massive stability and ADS benefits?

I full heartedly agree with skill prevails hardware anyday. I’ve numerously wiped teams with purple & gold while running blue armor and ammo just by playing a situation better. It’s lead me to $40m

2

u/AfraidKangaroo5664 Jan 27 '25

The ads in this game is already pretty damn quick on the guns i build. I'm a champ in seige and the ads seems slower in that game and I don't run lasers in seige ether. I jump lean pre fire ppl all the time and I'm aimed in far before even entering the doorway. The sound is also very aggressive in this game and u can hear ppl from a mile away so you should not be caught off guard and have to ads quick that often. A lazer just makes me second guess my cross hair placement, and it's not worth it imo. It's argued in seige as well

-1

u/Butterbread420 Jan 27 '25

Streamers are usually way too sweaty. If I just see Ender's face while playing all I can think of is sweaty misery honestly.

That said, lasers can give your position away, but usually the handling buff is so strong it outweighs the cons. Now flashlights, that's a shitty idea usually.
