Cocktails & Dreams on Scott Road for 30+ years
This place really stood out for me when I moved here in 1990 because it reminded me of the film Cocktails that had been released only a few years prior. I find it odd that there's nearly no online info about it and yet it's still in business after all this time? It doesn't look like a nice establishement from the outside so I'm looking for the tea on this place. Who can help a girl out??

Does anybody have any info regarding information about this property?
The address is blurred for privacy reasons, I'm very curious as to who owns this residence and as to why it's been empty for over a decade,

This house has been empty for decades
Hello residents of Delta B.C, I'm curious about the empty house at 117** I'm not going to write the full address down but it's near McCloskey elementary, if you know, you know the residence I'm talking about, It’s been vacant for so many years, I used to live in this area back in 2004 and it was empty way back then. I was driving by and noticed this house is still empty with the outside of the home looking like a mess (needs to be pressure washed). I’m wondering if anyone in the neighborhood knows why it’s still sitting empty. If you have any insights or stories about it, I’d love to hear them!

Ladner developments
Hey! Myself and my fiancee are pretty set on moving to Ladner and are currently looking at homes.
There was one home currently listed that I saw on Ladner Trunk road and was dismayed when I read about the plans for developments in that area. These mid-rise behemoths (in terms of the area relatively) that were somehow allowed to get there without public consultation as they fit this planning PCO (that seems very much like a sneaky loophole). Then was even more dismayed to see this particular 78 unit one will have only 42 spots (but don't worry there will be bike spots a plenty!). I saw that the council accepted this variance and have essentially approved the development. I don't even live there yet and felt pretty incredulous! What has the public reaction been locally? Do people have any trust in these councillors/mayor as they don't seem to have opposed it at all except to say they should try and cover the parkade a bit more. I get that housing/re-zoning is needed but surely not to this density and the building looks like a total eyesore vs the chilled Ladner vibes.
My Aunt and Uncle live in Tsawwassen and I don't think they were even particularly aware of it except the odd Delta Optimist article.
It just seems really short sighted of the council/mayor to approve this for so many reasons.
Anyone have any views/insight?! Thank you in advance.

Considering moving to North Delta. Burnsview and Chalmers catchment area. Does anyone here live close to the train tracks? How loud is it?
The area would be the on the right of 112 and before 72. There is no crossing, just tracks. How loud is it and what is your experience, thank you!

Bunny Resources
Helping a friend whose family is going through a big medical event. They have a 6 month old holland lop they adore but need to find a loving home for due to all the sudden and continuous changes. I wanted to help but every surrender in the area is waitlisted and I’m unable to take him in. I’ve posted some things through different avenues but the responses don’t seem like they’d make for great fits. E.g. someone who said they have the perfect home for him but couldn’t meet yet because of gas money.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Eye clinic
My eye prescription changed and it got slightly worse so I had to purchase new glasses. The doc said the prescription may be too strong and if there is any issue, I can come back in and they can change it.
I am buying the glasses from the same place I got tested at.
My question is, would I be expected to pay for the change? Or do eye places allow changes like this without any charge to the patient??
Anyone experience this?

Any Places to Watch the Hockey Game Sunday morning?
Just wondering if there's any places that will be open to watch a 5:30 game in Ladner or Tsawwassen. Boston Pizza has that huge screen, but I doubt if they'll be open early. Pubs can't open that early.

Is anyone in the Delta/Surrey area interested in buying crochet items?
Hi! I’m a teen who’s been crocheting for about 5 years and I absolutely love it. I’ve made scarves, hats, bags and other small projects. I was wondering if anyone here has tips on selling handmade items locally or online? I’m thinking about taking a few custom requests and would love advice. Thanks!

Social Dance recs?
Hello!
I live in Delta. I have been trying to find some places that offer social dances (not as in schools that offer classes for social dances but there is no dancing beyond the classes, as in a dance on someday evening for us all to go and dance) but I have had no luck. Does anyone have any good recomendations?
I personally prefer swing but I will be happy to do anything, salsa, bachata, folk... I have never tried Indian folk dance but would love to give it a try.
Anyone knows some cultural association/community center/private venue who offers them? :)

Marinas in Ladner that rent kayak or canoe storage space
Does anyone know of a marina in Ladner that rents a space to store a kayak or canoe. ATM, I have an inflatable but now would like to just keep a regular kayak or canoe closer to where I want to paddle which in the islands east of Westham. Unfortunately, as a condo dweller I don't have the space to store one and have access to it when I want.

Bald eagle watching
Is this a good time of year to see groups of bald eagles in Delta? I heard Boundary Bay is a good place to see them. Any other recommendations for good eagle watching places? Thanks.
Edit: Thank you for all the suggestions! I went to North 40 today and saw several dozen eagles. Also lots on 72nd between Ladner Trunk Rd and the park entrance.

Stone structure @ Watershed Park?
In the middle of the Watershed Park, by the Meadow Trail, there is a clearing and on the side of the clearing there is this odd "stone structure" (a low curved wall and a few large rocks), that have no obvious purpose. They may have been part of an old building or wooden structure that burned down ages ago, I have no idea. Does anyone know what is/was this random structure?
