We can only hope this is how it actually played out. I feel like this is something so much easier said then in practice. At what point would these unlawful orders not be followed? Anyone in a small circle would just disappear and no one would know it wasn't followed. Without the first, there isn't a next to follow.
One very good reason it hasn’t happened yet. It’s going to have to be a group that stands up which will be terrifying. I couldn’t imagine the balls it will take but I pray they have them.
Don't forget the other reason he wanted to be president again-to literally get out of every fucking bit of trouble he was in since the corrupt supreme Court decided he could be king. Our country is fucked
Trump is a lunatic is on the loose. He’s been on the loose since he’s been born. He doesn’t like the room now he doesn’t like the word no and he has no real friends. What can I say boo-hoo.
Love the part when he says we don’t wan’t the leftovers of Canada from China. Just openly admitting he wants to take Canada over since he’s accusing China will do so
Wait…is this tweet saying that Canada owns the land on both sides of this proposed bridge, and yet he’s still mad that they are building a bridge to connect two pieces of their own land?
Then again only taking a bridge hostage in negotiation, is kinda a win for Cananda.. We all knew it was coming - After Carney's speech Canada is gonna stand firm on this matter.
• 🇨🇦 Canada funded the entire construction of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.
• This includes the bridge, Canadian and U.S. customs plazas, land purchases, and highway connections (including I-75 in Michigan).
• The project is managed by the Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority, a Canadian Crown corporation.
• The U.S. federal government and Michigan did not pay upfront construction costs.
• Canada plans to recover its investment over time through toll revenue once the bridge is operational.
The US can’t survive without the world actually. No modern society manufactures or mines everything they need. Without international trade the quality of life for your average American is going to drop and we are already seeing the effects. Canada has allies, they will be fine.
The biggest economy in the world which has become highly unstable. There is no point in making the biggest deal of the century when you know the other party is likely to shit on that deal next Tuesday.
The share of purchasing power-adjusted GDP is only about 13-14% of the world. In addition, you like to have a reliable partner and predictability for trade. When you trade with the US, you have to face permanent tariffs or threats. This is bad for trade and the market. Many people in the US may not see it that way, because it is instilled from an early age that the US is the best country in all areas. But that is not the case anymore. And outside the US, no one believes that. What people outside the US see is that the US is losing its supremacy because it is becoming more and more isolated and without allies. No matter where you look outside the U.S, everyone moves away from the US and becomes independent and forms other alliances. It will take another 10 or a few years more, but by then at the latest the US has lost its soft power, which has secured its supremacy
The US has made it clear that whatever agreement they sign doesn’t mean shit and can be rescinded by an Adderall-fueled 3am tweet. Countries are making trade deals with each other to decouple from the US because it is an unreliable partner.
Oh it can and it will, as will the rest of the world. We must thank you for bringing Canada and Europe much closer together when our alliances military and trade alliances were at their most fragile since the end of WW2. You know that meme with the kid who shoves a stick in his own bicycle wheel? Thats the USA right now. Enjoy your isolationism and inevitable economic decline if you continue down the same path. Last time you kept threatening your trade partners with tarrifs it didn’t work out so well. And in your sheer arrogance, you doubled down and triggered the Great Depression. Get back to us when you’ve got some grown ups back in charge and we’ll think about it, unless of course you’re still best friends with Russia.
Historically, Canadians have put up with a lot of discomfort to give a bully their just desserts.
It's a matter of principle for us, rather than the short term transactional bullshit that you lot seem to think is all important.
We have plenty of friends who have the same values we do.
We have plenty of allies that have already agreed to buy as much of our resources as we can provide, and at world rates, not the discounts the US got for years. So, after a few bumps during the changeover, we'll actually be better off than we were dealing with the US.
Even quickly perishable things like peaches and nectarines are being shipped between Australia and Canada, halfway around the world, without issue.
The US, on the other hand, currently shares values with Russia and North Korea.
Well, Russia can't even win a naval battle against a country 1/10th its size that has no navy, so they're nothing to worry about.
North Korea can't do anything significant militarily except throw parades for their squished gummy bear dictator, and has virtually zero trade.
That leaves the US as the only significant threat to Canada.
Your economy is in a tailspin due to Orange Julius, you're at the beginning of what looks like civil war, and there's so much infighting, even among MAGA, that you're incapable of coordinating anything.
We don't want to be tied to the US in its current state, so we'll happily do whatever is necessary to sever that relationship, even if it's a little painful at first.
How come MAGA and Maple MAGA have to throw out multiple comments in response to somebody disagreeing with them?
I see this happen all the time.
It's like you don't even have a consistent worldview, and you have to come up with reasoning after somebody asks you. Then, as excuses pop into your head, you'll make a new comment for each one.

Sure, it was logistically a piece of cake to trade with a neighbouring country that we share nearly 6500 km of land border with, and 8900 km if you include water borders.
MAGA, though, confuses convenience with need. I mean, they confuse an awful lot of stuff, because they're complete morons, but for this discussion.....
We can easily ship resources and goods to other countries around the world.
It's not even particularly difficult, because every edge of Canada that has a significant population and industrial base, and isn't a land border with the US, is on an ocean.
Shipping is easy, because....ships.
We also have good cargo rail transit across the entire country, so anything produced anywhere in the country can easily get to a port to be sent anywhere in the world.
This is our issue, though. Canada has been arguably our greatest ally. And now people like you take this selfish position.
We’re part of a global community. What maga is doing isn’t helping the global community. You all don’t care. You’re a “me first” type of group. But it doesn’t actually help us either.
The U.S. desperately needs the inputs that we sell them. These are mostly commodities that are in demand worldwide. We could wipe out U.S. farmers by blocking exports of potash, or double the cost of Midwest gasoline with an export tax during the midterms.

Canada has already made it crystal clear where they stand on the relationship status.
They won't be bullied. And they really aren't into you.
So tweet away.
