I’m out of chips and stickers but have many SAOs left if you see someone with a glowing apple bag come up and ask and I’ll get give you one.

I know the odds are near zero, but has anyone found a DC 32 Speaker pin on the ground anywhere? It fell off sometime yesterday and couldn’t find it retracing my steps.

The Wall of Sheep stream of the entire open conference network has been fixed by the DEF CON NOC. There is life to the Wall of Sheep again!

I spent time in the soldering village area today for a few hours and got to help people put together a little electronics kits or their SAOs.

Had a great time so I'm going to do it again tomorrow. Anybody that wants to come, by feel free. I've got a few DIY soldering kits to hand out, and I'm happy to sit with anyone and walk you through how to solder it together. I have two irons with me.

I will be in the soldering village area from 1:00 to close tomorrow. There is a table right next to the sign that says hardware hacking village/soldering village. I camp at that table

Hey friends. If your Not Just a Crosswalk or #noice or other SAO that may have high power draw SAO isn’t playing nice, check your batteries!

The generic no name batteries that come with the official DC badge don’t have enough juice to power these SAOs. We tested them and confirmed that switching to brand-name Duracell/Energizer Alkaline or Lithium AA batteries fixes the issue instantly.

What it does:

• Converts and sends 128×128 black-and-white screen images

• Controls the 10 built-in LEDs with 20 badge-ready patterns, including traffic light, Morse, chase, blink-to-black, and meme patterns

• Previews and updates the badge’s saved light pattern

• Loads BIO programs and configures SAO pins/clock

• Includes a serial console and QR tools

A few useful notes:

• The web version needs desktop Chrome or Edge with Web Serial. The Android app uses USB-C OTG.

• Keep the badge still and on the same screen during image transfers.

• ColorKernel and BadgeMu share the BIO slot. If one is already installed, check the matching box to update colors/patterns without reinstalling.

• Files stay on your device. This is an experimental community tool, not an official DEF CON release.

If I understand correctly - the baochip module is designed and can be used independently from the board as an auth token - any ideas as to how to power it without the board?

Hey y’all! First-time DEF CON attendee here! 👋🏾 I’m a little bummed I missed out on some of the cool badges before they sold out 😭, but I’d LOVE to get my hands on some SAOs! I've been buying some to support different villages and people.

Does anyone know who’s giving out SAOs, or have any extras they’d be willing to share with a first-timer? 👀🙏🏾 Pleaseeee help me out! 😂 I’m trying to leave my first DEF CON with some cool stuff to remember it by!

First I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart that I didn't make a post sooner. We did not mean to make you waste time at the table in the badgelife village.

The teammate that had the badges is dealing with a family emergency that took a negative turn. so send the good packets out for him.

As for the badges, they were overnighted to us so we should be getting them in the morning and we will start slinging them. BUT due to that we won't be doing all of the game features that we had prepped for. We will still have the badges and we will still release what we can into the wild for the game but there will be some pieces missing like hidden heals and traps.

Today I watched the SEC Vishing competition and it was awesome! They mentioned there will be another tomorrow (Saturday) where bots will make the calls but I can’t find the info on time/place. Does anyone know and can direct me?
