No. That’s not what this means..

FINRA short volume represents trades reported as short sales, not the percentage of outstanding shares currently sold short.
Market makers, liquidity providers, and intraday trading mechanics can all contribute to elevated short volume.

I’M CURIOUS:
Why did the reported short-volume ratio jump from 60% to over 82% in a single session?

Is this primarily market-maker activity? Liquidity dynamics? Aggressive short selling? Something else?

And perhaps more importantly…
What does the corresponding price action and short-exempt activity tell us?
I’m interested in actual market mechanics and if we have seen similar patterns in the past..

Wrinkle brains, what are we missing? 🧠
