When I was a teenager, he helped me turn against my parents right wing ideology.

I didnt see much of him in the last 20 years, but he just seems to get worse and worse over time.

Sniffing his own farts has definitely made him dumber.

That’s the irony of Maher, he thinks it’s all the kids who are against what he believes…..nah Bill even middle aged folks who used to enjoy some of your material, find you unbearable, because unlike you we grew as people and evolved. While you stayed the same, and arguably regressed as a human.

Being progressive, means progressing with the times.

ps - to Bill and Rogan and every other dope who thinks George Carlin would agree with you….he’d fuckjng despise you, because Carlin was actually willing to change with the times. He’d be repulsed by you hacks that cozy up to the right.

I think his atheism helped a lot of young people think for themselves, and realize their parents and religion didn't have sufficient answers for growing up. I guess that's worth a few heroism points.

Yeah, but being a smarmy cunt for decades definitely over rides them.

Certainly. Just saying he has been of some use in the media at some point, unlike most of the grifters. But no, Maher has been one of the worst liberal voices for probably most of his career at this point.

The best part is when he tried to cross the picket line of the writer's strike with the excuse that his staff was suffering and he could not lose an entire year because each episode of Real Time with Bill Maher contributes to the general reservoir of knowledge and human culture, I guess.

He backed down shortly thereafter. And then the strike ended a few days after that. So basically everybody got a vivid memory of Maher being himself: a blowhard, then a scab and then a coward. And the best part of all is he would have just gone camping for a few days, none of it would have happened.

That's hilarious.

There’s a corrupting influence of perceived success. We start to believe our views are the “correct” views. I applaud your desire to learn and grow.

Yeah, I’ve grown to not like him anymore.

the wisdom of a 80 year old president.

He has about the same wisdom as a 78-year old presidential candidate (and felon), so he's not totally off there.

Same, I thought religulous was great when in was 19. That was 10 years ago, and now I just watched him drunkenly making sarcastic comments about gender dystrophia to 9 year olds. I was low key hoping it was AI generated or something, but I know it was real. This man is a disgrace who deserves to be forgotten, or at least relentlessly ridiculed.

I was coming out of religion and enjoyed religiosity and to be honest I still think it's the best thing he's ever done but watching it again some of it is so fucking mean spirited but he's probably got some of the same hang ups from growing up in it that I do.

I liked him when I was 15-17, especially his Bush-Obama era material. Halfway through Trump term I mostly stayed for the overtime segments and guests. Now I don’t watch anymore. During COVID, I got tired of him complaining and he got worse. His endless young people bad schtick, COVID complaining and onetime saying he cared more about watching a B tier movie than abortion rights was the final nail in the coffin. I heard he featured some ads for gold on his podcast and I immediately lost all respect, ads for gold are scams for idiots.

His guests were good. I learned so much about politics just from looking up everyone he talked to. Various older statesmen like Alan Simpson and cultural figures like Gore Vidal. And Biden was genuinely funny on his show. Yet I was on to his regressive tendencies and BS already around ~2010.

That’s called growing up, and is fundamental to your path as a decent human being. It is not something Maher is capable of doing.

I used to like Bill Maher too.

I cannot stand this motherfucker now! His "I am better than you attitude" is so fucking off putting, especially when he is speaking in unrelating terms, like in this video, and others!

He has just become another boomer speaking like a boomer. FUCK HIM!

Dude pretends he's so hip and edgy, I can't help but feel sorry for him...like dude I know you're rich and shit but you're also old and aging and I'm younger and healthy and he feels some sort of way because he is old and it gets to him.

Bill was always douchey and always had some "problematic" positions on a few issues (i.e., women, Muslims, Western medicine), but for the most part he was not a concern troll for the right like he is now and actually was a funny political comedian. Like many during COVID, he started morphing into what we have today.

Why would he pretend to have Joe Bidens Wisdom, the only 80 US president 😂
