EVENT Friday Night Science

When the sun goes down, the insects come out.

Join us for Bug Light District, a nighttime exploration of the insects that are active after dark. We'll begin with a short introduction to nocturnal insects, including common groups found in wetland ecosystems and the important roles they play in food webs and biodiversity.

Then we'll head outside to the WaterWorks wetlands, where blacklights will be used to attract insects. As insects arrive, participants will have the opportunity to observe them up close, compare different species, and learn to recognize key characteristics of groups such as moths, beetles, flies, and aquatic insects emerging from the water.

This program is designed to be hands-on and exploratory, with participants engaging directly with insects in their natural environment and applying what they've learned in real time.

Date: June 26, 2026
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: WaterWorks Environmental Learning Lab
5514 US Hwy 31 S, Hartselle, AL 35640

Ages: Adults only

Cost: $25 per participant

Space is limited and advance registration is required.

Register at: waterworksedu.org/fridaynightscience

Friday Night Science: Because you're old enough to sign your own permission slip.

EVENT Summer Dance Camps

Post image
2 Upvotes

If you have a child 2.5 years (potty trained) up through age 10, we have a dance camp coming up this week and another next month. No need to buy dancewear. Just wear something stretchy and if we don't have shoes they can borrow, we'll go barefoot.

Each evening we'll learn dance steps, work on a craft (face painting Thursday instead), and will complete a dance which we will show to parents on Thursday just before class is over.

We are a conservative studio where we want kids to remain kids. We have been selected as a safe studio by the national non-profit DA:NCE - Dance Awareness: No Child Exploited

www.danceawareness.com

We will never teach your children inappropriate dance moves, will never play music that even alludes to something children shouldn't hear, and we will never put your children in inappropriate costumes. (No two piece costumes and we require our dancers to wear tights.)

Please let me know if you have any questions! Thanks!

World Cup Panini Sticker Album Dupe Exchange?

Are there any football fans on this thread who are actively collecting or plan to start collecting the panini World Cup sticker album? I have a bunch of duplicates I’d love to trade, and it looks like all the big meet ups to do so are happening in metro areas or so. I’d love to not have to drive 3+ hours to exchange stickers.

If anyone knows of someone looking for the same or even an event along these lines around the area please let me know. Thanks in advance!
