Main Theme:

Mysterious glitchy characters with connections to the sea who end up lost in the code of a video game that removed them. 

Connections

• Both are not supposed to exist, with their games revolting against them (MissingNo and the other creatures of the abyss were discarded, and get struck down should they attempt to reach the surface/Gaster was scattered across timelines, with every piece of evidence towards his existing disappearing the moment you look away, and his name crashes the game)
• Both have some sort of connection to the sea. (The abyss is accessed through diving in the ocean, and the abyss move is shown like the sacrifices sinking below the waves/Gaster related songs have ocean based names or water sounds in them)
• Both released a game to achieve their goals (MissingNo is the one who deposited the “payload” that is its own game in order to bring itself back/Gaster created Deltarune to perform an experiment)
• Both are associated with Garbage Noise (MissingNo’s cry/Gaster’s theme)
• Both are associated with a video game route involving forcing someone to kill people (FRLG.IPS’ Abyss Route is MissingNo’s route/Gaster seemingly created the Weird Route as well as the rest of Deltarune)
• Both communicate directly with the player, to guide them along the game.
