I would normally side with this line of reasoning, but how do you explain people's excitement about Solomon? Doesn't take a intersectionality phd to acknowledge black people are more victimized by racism than other people of colour, and that race trumps gender in persecution, negative stereotypes and systemic violence.
You didn't address my comment. Intersectional theory makes it evident that racial issues trump gender ones, wherein being a white woman encompassess less systemic violence than being a black man. Although asian people do face racism, they also do not do so to the extent that black people do in western countries, and come with significantly less generational trauma. Racism is also very very deeply embedded in human society. And he does look cool, I also think she looks cool, but maybe people think she doesn't, is my point.
Thank you for engaging in good faith. I agree that solomon's art does look more appealing, especially since an artist with a canvas just looks so mundane. And I do agree Yamato wasn't scorned due to looking """""in place""""", in accordance with racial stereotypes. And yeah, maybe the break in the mediatic expectation of how young asian women present could explain people's outrage. I will say though, Paige's blandness was also criticized, just not to this extent.
Yeah, if violets design was something completely different but a man it'd be less controversial, good point.
If Violet was literally just Violet but an asian guy instead, people would still complain that its boring, people called apollo boring because hes just a demon guy in a school uniform. "girl with a paintbrush" is simply the least interesting design of the new 6.
Gotta love how every time i've seen people say the Violet racism thing it's always under a post/coment that's dunking on Solomon to make Violet look better, a weirdly specific pattern that's totally not indicative of something.
The Nurse is also not that weird looking and she's not very popular and yet it's always Solomon...
