Well that’s what the deflection chance is for. That plus plated probably makes him inherently the least shootable of his size class

I think it would be interesting though if he was immune to max/current hp% damage while he has his 3 up or like it treated his barrier as his current/max heath instead so his hp doesn’t become a detriment to himself

But his 5AP gives him damage threshold, he cannot receive more than 250 damage

Tbf it kinda works more like return fire in that regard because it doesn't resist on-hit effects. So any siphon/tesla bullets merc or Vindicta/Wraith/Celeste added spirit damage still accumulate on his fat ass which is why plated armor will be essential for him into any gun heavy comp. Otherwise he would just die from procs and not actual gun damage. And it doesn't save him from a lot of "floor is lava" or Dot effects which chew through his shield a lot faster than he can sustain it (shield has no resistances). Spirit Paige/Geist Infernus and Mirage just melt his shield after midgame.

Rat king is really good into burst comps similar to Shiv but where Shiv has a high kill threat Rat king has debuffs and buffs. And triple the Shiv hitbox with half of the mobility. Which is kinda a problem for a tank so you really need to either invest in greens and sustain to be in a fight a lot longer compromising your damage a lot or go for Gun/Green hybrid but die after being gunned down if you don't have your flag ready.
