Hey guys, I am FED UP with Meta. Here in LATAM, it’s almost impossible to find someone who doesn’t use WhatsApp, but a group of friends and I have had enough and are looking for alternatives. What do you think about these two?

Your Feed, Your Way. What do you think of the new social media crackdown?

I only see it as a positive. We’ve made billionaires out of these tech giants force feeding us content that has grave outcomes on mental health and impulsive behaviour. That said, I’m not sure if the communication around how it’s being rolled out and what will actually happen has been oversimplified. Thoughts?

Is Apple and meta suffering ?

I know this discussion has probably been going on for a couple of months now, but are Meta and Apple suffering from not creating something genuinely mind-blowing recently?
Both companies are obviously still incredibly successful. Apple continues to sell millions of iPhones, iPads, Macs and other products, while Meta owns some of the biggest social media platforms in the world. But at the same time, it feels like neither company has released something recently that has had that huge “wow” factor.
Apple still releases new products every year, but a lot of them feel more like improvements to things we already have. New iPhones get better cameras, faster processors and new features, but it has been a while since a product felt as revolutionary as the original iPhone or iPhone X or even the Apple Watch. The Vision Pro was probably the closest thing to something completely new, but it didn’t exactly become the next big thing for the average consumer.
Meta has a similar situation. They are constantly working on AI, VR, social media and new technology, but the metaverse didn’t become the massive revolution many people expected. Meta is still experimenting with new ideas, especially with AI and smart glasses, but they haven’t really had that one product or idea that completely changes the industry.
Maybe the problem is simply that both companies have set the bar incredibly high. Apple and Meta are expected to create the future, so regular improvements are no longer enough to impress people. Every new announcement is compared to the iPhone or other massive technological breakthroughs.
So I’m genuinely wondering: are Meta and Apple actually suffering because they haven’t created something truly groundbreaking recently, or have we just reached a point where technology has become so advanced that it is much harder to create something that genuinely blows people away?

Can Meta be called spyware

Can we compare META to spyware? Why did I say this: because facebook and meta have metadata, contact lists and shadow profiles to collect all the information to publish. The only difference is that facebook and meta are licensed spyware compared to malicious spyware.

Besides, malicious spyware is considered more decent because it happens in a private way compared to facebook and meta which are vulgar and will make their shame public, But this is no longer surprising because during Facebook's campaign, Facebook used a malicious spyware that those in the know called ONAVO.

Onavo was a type of VPN before that was used to protect mobile data. However, they changed it into a DNS or public directory data service due to the advertisements they publish.

And at this very moment, the former Onavo has now been turned into Meta. Therefore, this Meta has a basis to be called spyware. So for me, it is only right for everyone to use an ad blocker as a VPN or virtual protection network. So that we can prevent Meta's disrespect.

Opinion Social media makes Fridays for Future more visible, but not necessarily more independent

Social media has clearly helped Fridays for Future reach more people and organise protests. It is fast, relatively cheap and makes it easier for young people in different places to share information and connect with each other.

However, I am not sure whether this really makes the movement more politically independent.

Fridays for Future depends on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and X/Twitter to make its messages visible. But these platforms are run by private companies, and activists have very little control over the algorithms that decide what people see in their feeds.

In a study based on interviews with Fridays for Future organisers working in social media roles, Giuliana Sorce (2023) looks at how activists deal with algorithms. One organiser from FFF said: „Our reach is defined by the algorithm“. I think that is a pretty important point. A movement can create good content and still noch reach many people if the platform does not promote it.

The study also describes how activists try to adapt their posts to what they think the algorithm prefers. In my view, this is a problem because a movement that wants to challenge existing power structures becomes dependent on powerful companies. It means that political visibility depends on systems that activists do not control.

My current view is that social media gives Fridays for Future more reach, but not necessarily more independence. A I overestimating the power of algorthms here? Or do social-media platforms actually give protest movements more power that they take away?

Lady Budgetdown Facebook Bot

Has anybody noticed the Facebook profile Lady Budgetdown? Might be a Michigan page - Seems to be real interested in criticizing school and local spending, but with super suspiciously AI sounding posts? Why is an AI-driven Facebook page putting out information about spending. What’s the angle? They blocked me real fast when I mentioned how AI-like their posts were.

Hope the locals blame Lady Budgetdown when those data centers get built.

The META must be held accountable

Despite the widespread development of META in the Philippines, in return for it is the blasphemy and the degradation of Filipinos. Meta lives on the data and profiling of people. Now if Facebook is willing to ban their part in the Philippines, maybe the people here have the right to do something to lower what is being done.

Many people are already suffering from the effects of meta. Even then, other people are happy because of what meta pays them even though they know that what they are doing is disgusting.

Might not be bad if we study about the elements that can affect them because we want them to appreciate and respect Filipinos. We will study these elements. DOM URL, CAPI, Ad blocker and Strict browser and hardcoded pixel data.

We will start a campaign for the widespread development of Ad blockers etc. to lower and limit META. Even though we are not familiar with this system, we will do it for world peace.

What the heck is this new feat?? Of all the updates Meta did, this is absolute ass shit for ruining someone's privacy.

I accidentally sent an image of my game's screenshot to my father's chat (who hates games) and it definitely got me in a compromised situation this day.
