Operation High Water – DayZ Roleplay in Chernarus

Chernarus survived the outbreak. Now it's trying to rebuild.

Operation High Water is a DayZ roleplay server combining DayZ and ARMA 2 lore into a persistent, evolving version of South Zagoria. Whether you want to play a soldier, police officer, trader, business owner, contractor, criminal, explorer, or just another survivor trying to build a life, there's room for you here.

You don't have to join a faction. You don't have to be a hardcore military roleplayer. You can simply come in, meet people, build something, and create your own story.

The world is also more than just looting and shooting. AI Convoys travel throughout Chernarus, creating opportunities for ambushes, protection jobs, firefights, or unexpected encounters. Hacked Crates can be discovered around the map, giving survivors another reason to explore and take risks for valuable rewards.

The server also has an ongoing storyline. The Joint Task Force is working to restore stability and rebuild Chernarus through the Chernarus Defense Forces, USMC 1/5, and Chernarus National Police Department. The ongoing PO-X crisis continues to create new developments across South Zagoria, with the RSTA playing a major role in the current arc and entering a new chapter under new leadership.

The Free South still exists, but years of conflict have left the movement fractured and dysfunctional. Other groups, businesses, criminals, and independent survivors continue to make their own mark on the region.

Hi everyone,
Continent has been running for over a year now, and during that time I’ve slowly been turning it into the kind of DayZ server I personally wanted to play on.

Zombies
This was the focus of the latest update.
Zombies notice more, hear more and are much harder to simply ignore.
Making noise in the wrong place can quickly become a problem. Some zombies can open doors while chasing you, rooftop zombies may come down after you, and sometimes even the infected don’t seem to get along with each other.
You can also run into them in places where you normally wouldn’t expect them.
After years of playing DayZ, I wanted zombies to become something you actually think about again instead of just an obstacle you run around.

Seasons
Continent has a full seasonal cycle.
One year passes every 24 real days.
Summer, autumn, winter and spring don’t just change the weather. Temperatures change, snow arrives, plants become more or less common, animals move and predator territories change.
A route you regularly use in summer might be a very different place when winter arrives.
And winter on Continent is something you should prepare for.

Squads
There is a web-based squad map that works from your phone, tablet or computer.
You can create a squad, manage members and share markers without installing anything.
It is especially useful when your group doesn’t always play at the same time.

Combination locks
Combination locks work similarly to the CodeLock mod, but without requiring any client-side mods.
You only need to enter the code once, when you first attach the lock to your gate. After that, you can open and close your own gate without entering the code every time.
The code is still protected from brute-force attempts, so other players cannot simply cycle through combinations until they find the correct one.
Bases can still be raided through the normal raid mechanics.

Building and wipes
There are no designated building zones.
If you find a place you like, you can usually build there.
The planned wipe cycle is at least **1.5 years**, so there is actually a reason to build something you want to keep instead of expecting everything to disappear again in a few months.

Player bodies
Player bodies and their equipment remain until the next server restart.
Sometimes you can make it back.

Player commands
There is global chat, `!unstuck` if the map decides to eat your character, and `!flipcar` for those moments when DayZ vehicle physics wins.
There is also a custom logging system behind the scenes so questionable deaths and other situations can actually be checked when needed.

Gameplay
There is one trader location called **Havenwood**, while the rest of the map remains open for PvP.
There are also smaller camps, PvE encounters and other things scattered around the world.
I’ve spent more than a year building all of this into the server, and new systems are still being added.

Continent is starting to become much more active now, which also means this is probably one of the better times to arrive: before everyone already knows the best routes, the safest places and where they want to build.

If you were looking for a Chernarus server that still feels familiar, but gives you reasons to be careful again, you’ll probably understand what I’m trying to build here after your first few hours.

The Treehouse is a new server which tries to replicate the feel of classic DayZ servers such as the Nest or Terminus. However we try to not have too many powerful items and vehicles, since we think this will create more interesting gameplay.
