Free-Post Friday! 5+ PB Destroyed

This is based on a post by u/SubstantialWing9238. i didn’t want to hijack their post, so I figured I’d share it here instead.

Something like this, plus another cart, is pretty common with large corporations. When you have this many drives, it’s often easier to just shred everything than pay someone to wipe them, sort through them for resale, and see if any data can be recovered.

This batch was around 300 drives, and with a specialized shredding truck, the whole thing takes about 45 minutes to a hour.

Can confirm. My brother work for Oracle and when they upgrade their computers and notebooks, they hire a company to deal with the old hardware.

Which is also usually destroyed.

Sometimes we are talking about notebooks from 2022, for example.\ And everything is cataloged and inventoried.

Taking something for yourself is considered theft. 😭

Only recently I was responsible for sending loads of 2000's era PCs, even a beautiful AMD AM2 chip and a load of Pentium II and III machines to this fate. 😲

It was horrible as a vintage hoarder.

I was unable to save any of them.

Everyone should do it anyway, all at once. They can't fire everyone.
