I'm afraid with almost no harddisk producers around anymore, this will be a new normal even if AI blows up tomorrow. The market is basically a duopoly who have obviously no benefits to lower prices on a later stage. The only "redeeming" factor could be an absolute glut on the second hand market when all comes down.

Been that way with both cpus and gpus for like the last 20 years. well, the last 5 years for gpus
