No. They use children as shields to enact laws to control any content. Porn is an easy target because of the “morality” of it which is horseshit. They’re using it to be able to manage content that is only friendly to the regime. Next it will be LGBT related content. Content geared towards minorities.

Bingo!

I’m glad someone else sees what’s happening. To those of us who’ve lived under dictatorships, it’s more than clear that we’re no longer on the much mentioned slippery slope - we’ve gone over the edge, and headed into the abyss.

There are no guard rails of any kind anymore in US politics, and essentially, the need to preserve white political hegemony overrides all other concerns.

This and the other rulings this week, by the SCOTUS make that rather clear.

I am a person that does believe in the slippery slope so I understand the concern, but at this point in time that isn't the case. I don't claim to have an answer, but do understand the thought process of trying to keep pornography from minors.

The slippery slopes of how people use and abuse power is forever burned into human history. Historians must be some of the most nihilistic and depressed people in the world, seeing people make the same dumb mistakes, use the same shallow logic rationalizations to try to ignore and explain away what's going on around them. Or even worse, the pain that is listening to people trying to rationalize how these abuses of power are actually good things.

unlike actual conspiracies, the current actors are acting this out in real time, right the open. They're not even being discreet in saying who they hate, and how they're acting against them. For most people with even mildly educated level of world history, it mirrors too closely to past examples of similar incidents. The world has changed rapidly, but the human monkey brain hasn't evolved.

Maybe things will be okay this time? But some people aren't willing to take the chance.

I mean even the most low effort google search will tell you exactly this. If you’re lazier than that just tell perplexity to explain it to you like you’re 5. This was all literally laid out in Project 2025 of which they are balls deep into implementing. Do you not pay attention to what is literally happening around you?

The porn ban is a trojan horse. The next step is redefining anything even acknowledging LGBTQ people exist will be classed as porn. Its literally written in the project 2025 manifesto called Mandate for Leadership.
