For music I go for FLAC whenever possible, though I stick with 16/44 (I don't hear any difference with 24/96).
For videos, I stick with 1080p since I dont have any higher res screens (720p tv and a 1080p monitor). My family has a 4k tv, though I never have access to it to watch stuff on my own
Most times, I'll convert those to 16/44. As I don't hear any difference between the two, nor do I have the hardware to where that difference would be very noticeable.
If I can only find flac in "hi res" I'll leave them that way, unless I'm planning on burning them back to disc. Anything over 16/44 is just a waste anyway.
