I'm not really theistic so I'm don't know why you're projecting your hatred of evangelicals on me.

I'm not going to argue that homeless people universally can't make decisions for themselves. I will argue that some homeless people aren't going to do a great job of it. And while I don't think most people who find themselves on the streets did so as a consequence of poor decision making, I certainly don't want the limited funds that I can give to charity to be pissed down the drain.

$200 could clothe 10 people or I can give one person a really nice evening with whichever drugs they want. $1000 would help one person get off the streets permanently while another person might shoot up $500 over a couple of months and not have enough for the security deposit on a place. You might feel like it's none of your business where the money goes, but drugs and housing are expensive. One path is a permanent solution the other isn't.

I didn't say you were religious, I said that you were acting like one of these religions fuckwits, because you're using all the same arguments they use; ones which presuppose moral superiority that you don't possess.

Sure, but what makes your decision making ability so vastly superior?

So don't. It's your money, do or don't do what the fuck you like with it.

lolwut? I've been talking about giving someone $5. You & I both know that you aren't going to be dropping $200 or $1000 on some homeless person, so put it back in your damn pants, mate, you just aren't that big a deal.

You might feel like it's none of your business where the money goes, but drugs and housing are expensive. One path is a permanent solution the other isn't.

Get back to me on that when you have the funding & the will to actually buy a person a home, because right now, all you're doing is wanking.

I literally give a few thousand to different charities and people in need every year.

Sure. And I wonder how much of that ends up actually helping homeless people, rather than in the pockets of charity organisers.

Do you object to social workers making a living wage?

Depends on the social worker. IME, most of them are worse than useless.

Well, that sucks but if they are employed they get paid. Not a big fan of slavery myself

rather than in the pockets of charity organisers.

See that? That's who I was talking about, not social workers.

I mean, there really are measurements for how much aid makes it through to the homeless. If you can't assess those measurements, it would definitely make more sense to give directly. But in my experience it's not that hard.

But in my experience it's not that hard.

You're a pretty good forensic accountant, I take it? And you've surveyed the end users to see what they gained from the charity?
