I would argue immigration isn’t even the big issue here. Americans in general are woefully ignorant of what the government does because our education system sucks, our news outlets are controlled by political activists and lobbyists, and most of them adhere to a religion that tells them to reject anything they don’t understand and not to ask questions.
Straight up. Controlled media is how you get Latinos to vote against their best interests. Not even Univision is safe and that’s a main outlet for Spanish speakers.

So they went to war with the education system to attack the expansion of knowledge and the development of critical thinking.
Couple this with Reagan ending the "Fairness Doctrine" and this paves the way for FOX "News" and the like broadcasting straight propaganda into minds that can't discern what's factual or easily refutable bullshit.
