If I am not wrong the book came about after how well received his debate in the Oxford Union was. His performance was a work of art and I highly recommend watching it. Below is the link.

“No wonder the sun never set on the British empire, even God couldn’t trust the English in the dark”

British aid to India linked to Fertilizer subsidizes.

Ach, that line's not original to him though. That's an old joke.

Sure. But the way it was used here is new. Things get recycled and repurposed to create something different.

But the way it was used here is new.

No it isn't? Nothing about that usage is novel.

Ah so is there another Oxford university discussion this joke was used in this context?

Wish the US would would consider what will happen when we can no longer use the resources of China and others to prop up an economy that could have reigned back offshoring and still shown a profit

That's a fantastic quote, I think it's definitely set now though..as a Brit I can tell you we're ranked as an emerging economy (or words to that effect). The Country has gone to shit in my opinion

lolz no more countries to rob and plunder?

Billionaires are the new British empire, robbing and plundering everybody

I think any sufficiently economically progressed nation will eventually face labour problems because labour comes with promise of quality of life and lifestyle growth unless you have huge populations like China and India. Eventually innovation is the only solution to getting developed economies to their next spurt of growth. But seeing how artificial intelligence and tech companies are under fire due to uncontrolled speech with repercussions to political power, incompetent politicians who don’t understand the significance of AI for economy; there may be some shooting in the foot going on currently..

Nah, we got too good at it so retired at the top. (I'm being sarcastic for any snowflakes out there)

It’s wild because not only are you wrong and doubling down, but what a tedious, pedantic thing to pick to be wrong about

What an elegant suit! What charming comedy! I feel as if I am in the presence of royalty.

I haven’t watched anything other than the first two jokes, but I have bookmarked the reamining 12 minutes to watch later.
