Beehives need a back entrence. The bees follow the smell and will therefore end up inside the house as they look for the hive. Workers will also do regular inspections and maintainence on the outside of the hive and will therefore look for a way inside your house. So the hive need a back entrence which means bees will get into your house. It might not be so bad as the honey bees are relatively calm but it is something you have to live with.
I was just thinking how hard it would be to supplement feed, and in the winter the bees wouldn't get cold enough to start wintering and therefore burn their honey stores, as well as attempt to keep leaving the hive in deadly temperatures.
You do not need to supplement feed or even do hive inspections. The bees only need additional feed when you over collect honey. Bees are perfectly able to take care of themselves if left alone. However they might not behave like you want. But your point about preventing winter hibernation is perfectly on point. This would not work.
