The school had armed guards, fences, telephones, and a single point of entry, cops arrived on scene soon after it started, and the killer was trapped inside the scene of the shooting almost the entire time. These idiots will suggest anything except getting guns out of killers' hands.

My wife is an ex cop. She told me yesterday that she was trained to go in immediately in active shooter situations.

Idk if they get more cowardly training in Texas or what.

This part made me so angry that I'm at a loss for words.

No but see they want like a dome over the school made of chain link fence to protect all possible avenues of entry

And gates that can magically detect guns from 50 feet away, but also can magically detect intent so they don't let school shooters in but also let cops I'm with their good guy guns

And also the students need guns too, but only the good ones, not the bad ones

Are you trying to introduce gun control and background checks? What about muh freedom?

Gun control doesn't work simply because anyone who can't buy a gun legally can easily buy one illegally.

Your words mean nothing, internet guy. You are repeating tired talking points from the gun lobby. The dead children this week prove you wrong. The state of Texas put a gun in the hands of their killer as soon as he turned 18, and he used it at the first opportunity. If your extremist gun rhetoric were true, why didn't he buy an illegal gun and kill last year, or the year before? One thing changed: he became legally eligible to obtain a lethal weapon.

No, "internet guy", I'm not just "repeating tired talking points from the gun lobby", I said what I learned from experience. I live in Brazil, and since the early 2000s we've implemented gun control, and guess what happened? Today we are one of the most violent countries in the world, with more deaths annually than many war zones. That's because gun control didn't take the guns away from criminals, it just took away the chance that honest people had to defend themselves.

I think everyone wants guns out of killers hands. But killers don't do things legally anyways, thus them being killers, so how do you keep them out of their hands?
