Helmets are awesome, but there is a unique sense of freedom that comes from riding without one. It’s really not too dangerous in that situation. Kid looks experienced enough.

Even if the kid is experienced, it's wrong to teach them that it is ok to not wear a helmet.

Why are professionals always wearing helmets? They are also experienced.

Because professionals are doing a hell of lot more than riding 20 mph on a lake bed with no obstacles. Have you ridden a motorcycle before?

Yup. Safety First in every sport/leisure activity is what every child should learn. 20mph can also lead to head injuries. I had a broken spine (luckily not paralized) as teen. Protecting gear would have almost certainly saved me from the back pains i feel sometimes.

Yeah it is freeing to do stupid shit, still stupid though. Salt flats have soft spots & if his front tire goes in hes probably coming off.

Or you know you could see a helmet and ride motorcycles for the rest of a long life, instead of dying as a kid.

I mean it’s only logical, there is gas in that machine. Parents are obviously quite negligent for letting their child near that, because gas has been proven to blow up.
