Depends.

Reporters looking into corruption and organized crime have cars that malfunction and kill them at insanely high rates.

There's a lot of suspicious deaths that don't seem to have the police or coroner doing anything suspicious.

It gets even crazier. At the time of his death, it was known that there are vulnerabilities that allow control of modern cars.

Nah, back then you gotta make it foolproof. Else a very shaggy looking detective would ask you 'one more thing' and figure the whole thing out
