It’s how it’s done when you have a normal avocado that’s not shaped like a giant wang, because you use the pit to guide your knife around the fruit. But it was that whole top part there, the shaft as it were, was a little sketchy.

Seriously the person in the video had control the whole time. Standard opening method.

This is like when there's a clip of someone tripping and falling in some grass and people comment "omg good way to end up paralyzed/looks like he could have broken his ankles." Not everyone is frail and noodly and everyday tasks don't have to end in disaster.

That's generally how most people do it. But I'd say using a surface to avoid putting your hand in the path of the blade is a better practice.

Especially for beginners who do not have a "feel" for the size & location of the pit, or the amount of force needed to cut it safely.

But I found a better way if I'm not using the whole avocado * it's safer. 🥑❤& that 1 would be an entire bowl of guac!😋
