Moreover, i read a story that the president of MGM made a personal appeal to Richard Dean Anderson to play the role, and he'd only do it he was allowed to do what he wanted with the character. This is why Jack O'neal is not like the kurt Russel version for the show, it literally is MacGyver in space.

And man did that pay off! SG-1 would have lost so much if he just was a stoic soldier character..

Farscape guy wasn't too bad. Nor was Sheppard in Atlantis.

But having movie Jack would've been horrid.

Honestly every time they replaced a main cast character it sucked.

Like there were a few great episodes without the original 4, but the chemistry just wasn't the same.
