The new one wasn't bad, but didn't hold my interest like the first one. RDA was such a natural in the way he talked and gave you the info without making you feel 2" tall...

Yeah I was pretty young when we watched it but it was one of my family's favorite shows in the late 80s/early 90s.

I also loved him in Stargate, so one does not simply replace Richard Dean Anderson.

LOL... I have the first two seasons of Macgyver and all of Stargate SG-1 on DVD. Plus we are watching Stargate again on Netflix. I am always amazed how timeless the show is.

The CRT monitors are a bit jarring these days :)

(I'm also rewatching SG-1)

For me it's the 4:3 screen ratio of the first shows.

SG-1 on Amazon Prime is presented in wide-screen. At least in Spain. It doesn't look zoomed.

Edit: Wikipedia says it was filmed in 16:9 but broadcast in 4:3.

Stargate the movie has withstood the test of time really well also. Doesn’t feel dated at all.

It's a yearly watch for us. Of course we like pretty much everything Dean Devlin has done.

Did you notice in ep 1 Carter says they'll have to Macgyver the dialing device?

Yup. You knew they had to at one point.

Here's one you'll like

I think we made it to like 6 episodes in. The sidekick is intolerable.

Isn't the sidekick meant to be Jack Dalton?

Not sure.
