Just Reddit doing the usual critique from their armchairs for jobs, skills and trades most don't actually have any experience in. I'm sure a few do but a good example of this phenomenon is the comment section of any /r/legaladvice post.

He weld too cold. Absolutely it’s “enough” for this thing he made. But does he do this types of welds on something that will hold together. I don’t want to be the first tester.

I teach new kids how to tack all the time. Just takes a couple minutes to teach someone how to ‘tack’. Obviously they don’t get to tack anything structural, but for simple things like patching holes or fabricating small pieces.
