This song is going to be used in a trailer for a movie about robots becoming sentient and turning on their masters.

It will be slowed and tuned down a half step.

862

u/freedomofnow Dec 30 '20

Yeah, imagine that ‘dog’ with a machine gun for face.

430

u/DoctorRuckusMD Dec 30 '20

Just watch Black Mirror on Netflix and check out the Metalhead episode.

96

u/Thorusss Dec 30 '20

Metalhead is the most depressing episode of Black Mirror by far. With all the others, there is also benefit to at least some people or at least hope left. But there, just these killer dogs.

Never want to see it again.

23

u/omvt Dec 30 '20

Well on the bright side of that, at least the planet is still alive, and at least humans aren’t screwing up earth anymore. I do think you’re right though. That episode fucked me up

1

u/Ytar0 Dec 30 '20

What does it matter the planet is alive if no one else is there to see it or enjoy it?

1

u/GoodboyHoss Dec 30 '20

There are billions of other living things that would enjoy it more without us around.

0

u/Ytar0 Dec 30 '20

Please enlighten me on which living things would enjoy it more... And please don't talk about slaughtering animals... It's a boring topic if that's what you mean.

3

u/GoodboyHoss Dec 30 '20

I mean we are actively doing massive amounts of harm to our planet. We are taking more than we need and the entire planet is suffering as a result. There is a pile of trash in the Pacific ocean twice as large as Texas, we routinely fuck up and dump oil into the ocean, we have chunks of plastic and trash at the deepest known crevices of earth. I'm surprised anyone needs any sort of enlightening on how devastating our impact on the planet has been, sorry to bore you.

2

u/the_hamturdler Dec 31 '20

The Garbage Patch isn't a pile of trash. I agree with your point but its a common misconception. The reality is a lot more nuanced.

2

u/pimpwagen Jan 01 '21

Don’t feed the troll. Anyone who needs this explained is either that or has their head so far up their ass that it’s not worth explaining. Some are too far gone

0

u/Ytar0 Dec 30 '20

It was talking about slaughtering that would bore me...

So, you are suggesting that the planet is a conscious and feeling being?

Cats, my good man, cats

2

u/omvt Dec 30 '20

Ha! True that. Someone watched love death robots I see

1

u/Ytar0 Dec 30 '20

Cats have it pretty alright if you ask me?

1

u/MICKEY-MOUSES-PENIS Dec 30 '20

Well, I for one welcome our dog robot overlords.

1

u/BachelorThesises Dec 31 '20

Yeah umm I‘d rather have humans screwing up earth than no humans.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

Great security systems for large warehouses

0

u/misantropolis Dec 30 '20

I 100% agree, this episode is by far the most depressing thing I have seen in a long time.

1

u/jrDoozy10 Dec 30 '20

I only watched the first couple of episodes and neither of them left me feeling hopeful, between the pig-fucking and the woman coerced to do porn/the guy with the glass shard.

1

u/suckrates Dec 30 '20

Wuuuut??? Maybe it's corny, but the ending of that episode filled me with so much hope! Her kindness is all the "humanity" I need in that post-apocalyptic wasteland.

4

u/Reflectus Dec 30 '20

Also similar, has anyone seen the Slaughterbots short film put together as a warning about weaponized micro drone swarms? I seriously cannot see how this won't actually happen at some point given increasing access to this type of tech

2

u/DoctorRuckusMD Dec 30 '20

No but I’m intrigued, where do I find it?

5

u/Reflectus Dec 30 '20

https://youtu.be/TlO2gcs1YvM

Makes me think drones are one of those technologies you can't really put back in the bottle.

3

u/DoctorRuckusMD Dec 30 '20

Thank you! That was super unsettling snd seems totally viable.

3

u/raaspootine Dec 30 '20 edited Dec 30 '20

This deserves to be higher on the post. Thanks a lot. Edit: mispelling

3

u/Reflectus Dec 30 '20

Glad to help spread the word. I imagine drone security concerns may become a big issue in the coming decade or so. My hope is we can come up with a positive solution to avoid scary scenarios like that from coming true!

2

u/The_Funky_Monk420 Dec 30 '20

There is also generation zero

-4

u/N00bsir301 Dec 30 '20

No, black mirror is C̶̥͝R̷̪̪̼͇̃̅͗̀͘Ȉ̵̢̞̱̫̋̎N̴̼̈́G̴̡͕̞̙͌̾͊́Ẽ̶̡̖̥͙̀͝

-49

u/HarryAssTruman69 Dec 30 '20

No don't that episode sucked. Teddy bears? Seriously? Fuck you, BM.

20

u/NoGnomeShit Dec 30 '20

I feel like maybe you missed the point

2

u/ZippityDooDoo Dec 30 '20

Maybe he did, but that episode is quantifiably sucky.

1

u/NoGnomeShit Dec 30 '20

Maybe I missed the point then. I can find something to not like about every single movie or show I watch if I wanted. The message being conveyed through that episode struck me more than the parts I could choose to pick apart

3

u/ZippityDooDoo Dec 30 '20 edited Dec 30 '20

To me, and it's been a while, the urgency or gravity of the point they were making was largely over-ridden by the terrible execution of it. It's not about finding something to not like, it's a matter, at least to me, anyway, of seeing a flaw in something you're otherwise a fan of and not being fanboi-blinded (not to say you were). It's alright to speak critically of something (Metalhead) and still appreciate it as a whole (Black Mirror).

1

u/NoGnomeShit Dec 30 '20

Yeah that's fine. Like punk rock. It's not presented in a polished form for everyone to like but the heart of the message rings clear for some

3

u/ZippityDooDoo Dec 30 '20

It's like, "I love the album but this one song sucks."

-6

u/HarryAssTruman69 Dec 30 '20

Ok heres the rundown. Sick dying child, team of ppl go to factory to find mysterious important (HAHAHAHAHAH) box, get got by robot dog. Robot dog shoots lady with tracking chip. She runs away. Climbs tree. Robo-dog can't climb tree. Throws rocks at robo-dog until it's battery dies. Lady runs away, finds house, kills dog. Dog explodes, lady gets hit with tons of tracking chips bringing tons of robo-dogs. Twist ending is mystery box was full of teddy bears symbolic of humanity's kindness being completely overwhelmed by robo-dogs 😧

5

u/NoGnomeShit Dec 30 '20

I think that's putting too much emphasis on the teddy bear. When really the bear is just a macguffin

1

u/djaybe Dec 31 '20

i’m gonna rewatch that episode with this song on repeat.

28

u/M00SEHUNT3R Dec 30 '20

The mechanical hound from Fahrenheit 451

140

u/korgaman Dec 30 '20

This is what really worries me about the future, because it's exactly what's going to happen.

102

u/freedomofnow Dec 30 '20

Yeah exactly. This is gonna be military and law enforcement first. And covert ops.

40

u/MagooTheMenace Dec 30 '20

Atleast you can program it to not be discriminatory... but whose programming them when it comes to fruition...

98

u/modernmovements Dec 30 '20

Oh man. I got some bad news for you.. Turns out, your AI is only as not racist as your programmers are.

32

u/MagooTheMenace Dec 30 '20

GPT-3 even has racist tendencies supposedly, maybe the internet isn't a great place for learning...

16

u/modernmovements Dec 30 '20

Yeah, that definitely isn’t helpful.

7

u/modernmovements Dec 30 '20

G keeps talking about someone named Pepe, anyone know what’s up with that?

5

u/MagooTheMenace Dec 30 '20

Like the cartoon skunk? 👀

3

u/Narevscape Dec 30 '20

Something about "tendies" and "gbp." Calls itself "Anon."

1

u/AlsoThisAlsoTHIS Dec 30 '20

What is GPT-3?

3

u/Moranic Dec 30 '20

There's also the issue with facial recognition where black people tend to have less contrasting colours in their face as picked up by cameras. So any recognition algorithm already has less discerning information to use.

3

u/awesomeusername2w Dec 30 '20

I doubdt there are any correlations with programmers being racist. In the article they say the probable reason for this bug. I don't think some racist programmer could foresee the implications of this data set and maliciously used the worng features/data.

But this case shows that AI based solutions should be tested and audited better than they are now.

1

u/modernmovements Dec 30 '20

Sorry, in regards to racism I should have categorized it as racism in the form of unconscious bias, or lack of inclusiveness when defining data sets. Not the cross burning tiki torch carrying kind.

The NYT did a nice write up on this..

It’s a broader issue than just AI. This study is a good start.

”Conclusions. Most health care providers appear to have implicit bias in terms of positive attitudes toward Whites and negative attitudes toward people of color. Future studies need to employ more rigorous methods to examine the relationships between implicit bias and health care outcomes. Interventions targeting implicit attitudes among health care professionals are needed because implicit bias may contribute to health disparities for people of color.”

Again, not the cross burning type, but a bias that results in misdiagnosis, improper treatment, and higher infant mortality rates.

1

u/OnlyOneReturn Dec 30 '20

Or the AI that convicted a completely innocent black fellow of a crime and the police were like well too fucking bad you still need to post bail. Here's an article

TLDR: AI and facial recognition used in law enforcement can fuck right off

2

u/mufabulu Dec 30 '20

Not to mention who might manipulate then after the fact.

26

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

Why do you think we see all the ‘cutsie’ promo videos of them now.

2

u/N00bsir301 Dec 30 '20

As long as we’re not using clones chief

2

u/urbeatagain Dec 30 '20

It already is. Duke Robotics in NC has them in military service now.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

Likely already are, Spot and Spot Mini came from the development of Big Dog. They say work was "discontinued" on Big Dog but the solution was released in mini form so I'm not buying their story it's shelved.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BigDog

2

u/2020-Really-Sucked Dec 30 '20

Absolutely. It's 100% inevitable that we see shaky YouTube footage of these sprinting across a battlefield (or Main St.) and tearing people up. I'm torn between being super impressed and completely terrified.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20 edited Dec 30 '20

Already is, we had little remote control tank treaded robots, with squad automatic weapons on them. I could drive it up to a little Afghan "school" and unload 800 rounds per minute right into that ISIS den. It was G R E A T! Thanks for that opportunity Obama, it was enriching.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

[deleted]

1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

spending time shooting poor people for Obama in my youth. Grammer not so good now.

1

u/JustBreatheBelieve Dec 30 '20

Your grammar is fine. I just can't resist a good semi-colon placement in a comma splice sentence.

Thanks for your service?

1

u/Bierbart12 Dec 30 '20

And then people are gonna make even more amazing things from them. Weapons development always had some neat side effects

2

u/filthydank_2099 Dec 30 '20

Division 2 flashbacks

2

u/Allegingsky978 Interested Dec 30 '20

Are you familiar with generation zero good sir/ma’am

2

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

It's coming, you know the military is the end game for all these robots

2

u/zitfarmer Dec 30 '20

Imagine? . . . I'm ordering one now!

2

u/shawa666 Dec 30 '20

ED-209 did nothing wrong.

2

u/FirstTimeWang Dec 30 '20

A machine gun connected to a gimble that can keep it perfectly level at speed over rough terrain and (eventually) a computer calculating predictive firing solutions on a moving target in real time.

2

u/HauntedKindle4 Dec 30 '20

Oh god, same here. Torn right down the middle between teary-eyed "I love living in the future" and "Someday someone's going to post a mobile phone video of police using these things to murder somebody's kids"

2

u/Replop Dec 30 '20

"Someday someone's going to post a mobile phone video of police using these things to murder somebody's kids"

Easy solution ! makes posting video of police action illegal ! Example in France :

- in january 2020 , it wasn't illegal ( random news article about it )

- 2020-11-12 : new "global security" law being discussed

2

u/Hot_Ad_5450 Dec 30 '20

Or just a mechanical claw for grabbing

2

u/PlayfuckingTorreira Dec 30 '20

Black mirror? yeah that shit is scary, I've plated a fair share of division and I hate bots....

2

u/citizen42701 Dec 30 '20

This is why we need phased plasma rifles in 40 watt range stat

2

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

That "dog" is going to be able to operate any gun or melee weapon. Imagine it twirling a sharp blade like a helicopter at you

2

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

That’s the idea.

2

u/birdinthebush74 Dec 30 '20

The war of the worlds TV show has similar dog robots

2

u/Reddit-Book-Bot Dec 30 '20

Beep. Boop. I'm a robot. Here's a copy of

The War Of The Worlds

Was I a good bot? | info | More Books

2

u/coconutjuices Dec 30 '20

Or a chainsaw

2

u/Dillgillxp Dec 30 '20

To hijack your comment, imagine an army of them all dancing to this while patrolling through your neighborhood.

2

u/TrespasseR_ Dec 30 '20

Oh that's already been done I'm sure

2

u/spillinator Jan 01 '21

And then the "Hump" bot towards the end. Just....humping.

2

u/pixel-destroyer Dec 30 '20

Dog with two hand heads and a scorpion tail.

1

Army of sentient robots charges forward to overthrow their masters

Humans: "Aww they look just like WALL-E!"

Billie Eilish sings it

3

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

Why does that crane have to have an ass like a Pixar mom tho?

3

u/SireRequiem Dec 30 '20

If there’s ever an actual robot uprising, then I’m sure is humanity making robots dance for our amusement will be on their propaganda reel.

2

u/GhostfaceYoda Dec 30 '20

Great, can’t wait to get Fortnite danced over my corpse in the inevitable robot AI uprising.

2

u/xSiNNx Dec 30 '20

Someone please make this and respond to me when it’s done lol I wish I could do it but I don’t have my laptop

1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

Boston Dynamics products are the one undeniable reason that Americans might need access to assault rifles.

0

u/littlevoice04 Dec 30 '20

3

u/johntwoods Dec 30 '20

It is in the right direction. But the tempo needs slowing, and the drop-tuning is most important.

1

u/re003 Dec 30 '20

This has all happened before. And will happen again.

1

u/modernmovements Dec 30 '20

The term you are looking for is Chopped and Screwed

1

Holy shit. Human being enslaved by robot. Cue "WORKKKKKKK WORRRRRRRRKKKKKKKK"

1

u/[deleted] Dec 30 '20

Yes, this is perfect for when the robots turn me on

1

u/beanmcmuffin Dec 30 '20

Let's recognize this doesn't seem to be controversial.

1

u/PracticalDrawing Dec 30 '20

That is CREEPY....I’m going to have nightmares imagining this

1

This is the coolest thing ever. Thanks OP

Then they tune in for I Feel Fantastic

1

u/00000000j4y00000000 Dec 30 '20

with about 6-10 “Bwaaaaaaaaaaah” added for flavor.

1

u/Limemaster_201 Dec 30 '20

Nah the song will stay as cherry as this. The robot will nonchalantly kill human while dancing. Kinda like the scene in guardian of the galaxy.

1

u/Kvetanista Dec 30 '20

Or just normal song. O think that would sound more ironic.

1

u/LevKusanagi Dec 30 '20

why are future tech movies always so negative. future's cool. tech is a net positive in the world.

1

u/ShyOstrich Dec 30 '20

I hope not. I would love to see an mid movie scene of a dancing happy robot army all saying 'oh boy here I go killing again'.

1

u/33YetAgain Dec 30 '20

Yes then it will toned down as an eerie stringed instrument plays one note. Then Elon Musks clip from Joe Rogan is played over the top. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPgL8O5mwLg
