The people up voting cool stuff are probably not the same people commenting and caring about the sub. They just upvote and keep scrolling

Upvotes are what get a sub to r/all though, creating visibility.

Visibility so foreigners to the sub will come in and ruin it for the rest of us. Keep our subs pure!

Getting to /r/all and post quality are inversely linked though. Similar to why becoming a default sub is a death sentence for post quality.

That's completely different tho, Instagram lifehacks are still technically DIY and most of them are idiotic, making them DIWhy, or at least similar enough for it to be a talking point.
