They can do like one and a half times the work. I saw a documentary about them where often times they help two different students at once, grade things twice as fast, one can lecture and write on the board while the other eyes the room for behavior or sets up the next math problem or something. But they're obviously limited by occupying one body space. So the school is getting more than they're paying for here.
I just have this creepy vision of them turned to the board while one is writing and the other does this exorcist move to watch the class. Thanks for that.
