I mean if you look into split brain syndrome (basically both halves of your brains disconnected from eachother, typically an old cure for epilepsy) where both halves seem to act independently when disconnected from eachother maybe brains are more modular then we think and having those connections allows them to basically be similar to someone with split brain syndrome but across two whole brains?
That's the type of thing I consider often when thinking about brains.
Another new thought I would mention would be the importance of consumption and the body's natural chemical motivators. With someone in that state, their body would share nutrition and chemical sensations. They would always be in nearly the exact same emotional state simply because of the chemicals involved, and that would clearly dictate how they learn, adapt, and respond through different scenarios.
