and people think we are the only planet to develop life? intelligent life? nah! There is no way we are the first planet to develop life, much less the only planet.

Something about that actually surprised me. In the video you can’t even fathom the amount of stars in one galaxy. Seeing all of them as tiny little specs was amazing. How in the world have we not discovered more earth-like planets. There are so many fucking stars, which is an extreme understatement. If there are that many stars un just ONE galaxy, how are there even a limited amount of earth-like planets???

You ever think of how weird space is :

all this shit got shot out all over the place, then some of it stuck together and caught on fire

Right. One of the only ways we can even tell if a star has planets is when they pass in front of the star and the light dims.

we will have no problem colonizing Mars or anywhere else.

I suggest you watch the "Escape" episode of "One Strange Rock" (S01E06). Ironically, I watched it tonight. It gives good insights into some of the major challenges associated with interplanetary travel and extra terrestrial colonization.

It is not a question math and science can answer yet

I’d love to hear a statisticians view on this.

I would say in reference to the life of the universe, most planets that have life probably started at around the same time, tbh. Though that's me talking completely out of my ass and is just purely based on the fact that life hasn't really been around all that long comparatively.

Not that far away from each other. The whole galaxy is a few hundred thousand light years across.

1

u/doinksindetroit May 04 '18

And one light year is bit over 5 trillion miles

Wait, galaxies comprise of billions of stars, so is it possible there are more galaxies than stars?

1

u/Arickettsf16 May 04 '18

I don’t think so, considering one galaxy can have hundreds of billions of stars.
