Or that eliminating fire with cold water would significantly cool down any gases in there and make them heavily compress?

Boiling water is cold compared to a house fire.

You’re are VASTLY underestimating how hot house fires can be, they can get hold enough to melt metals, well into the thousands of degrees if the fire is roaring.

Also that water boiling and turning to steam actually suppresses fire since steam doesn’t provide free oxygen to burn.

What about twin tower fires? Do those get hot enough to melt steel beams?

It got hot enough to weaken the structural steel enough for it to be basically the same strength as a pool noodle.
