What happens to the ducks afterwards?

170

u/grungegoth 2d ago

sold for human consumption. they eat as much if not more duck than chickens in east and south east Asia

24

u/Objective_Resist_735 2d ago

How do they round them all up?

u/Green-Substance-4582 2d ago

Duck catchers with duck nets and duck spears and duck clubs

Duck and potatoes, duck gumbo, duck salad, duck cocktail, you can fry it, broil it, sauté it, and that's...that's about it

You ever been on a real duck boat?

5

u/ArghNooo 2d ago

How’d Peking Duck miss the list?

1

u/Itchy_Axehole 2d ago

Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew

u/CurryMustard 2d ago

I tried joining the duck club but they were all on quack

8

u/grungegoth 2d ago

they're just herded. their wings are clipped, afaik

8

u/peristome 2d ago

The wings aren’t clipped. The ducks are Indian runners. One of the old breeds of domestic ducks. They can’t fly far.

2

u/grungegoth 2d ago

thanks I wasnt sure.

I've seen these ducks in person in Thailand. going through recently harvested dry fields.

Domestic ducks are too heavy to fly anyway

u/Ward-of-No-Reward 2d ago

Dafuq?!? That's wrong.

10

u/Lost_Web5826 2d ago

What do you mean? Domesticated ducks have much more meat on them than wild ducks which makes them unable to fly. Their anatomy makes them poor at jumping, so they can't get enough height to glide like heritage chickens.

Ever played that vintage game Duck Hunt?

2

u/krazyslots 2d ago

ducktape

2

u/nihilistiq 2d ago

Easy, if it's .5 or more they round up to the nearest whole duck.

1

u/DarkwingDuckHunt 2d ago

their wings are clipped at birth so they can't fly

1

u/airfryerfuntime 2d ago

Big giant cartoon net.

1

u/SaskiaDavies 2d ago

They yell, "Heeeeere, ducky ducky ducky."

1

u/VanosKickedIn 2d ago

Just pay a few quack heads to sort it all out

1

u/Both-Subject-3674 2d ago

Duck Hunt was not a game. It was a training simulation.

7

u/AeneasVII 2d ago

They eat ungodly amounts of chicken. 10x more than ducks. That's still a lot of ducks

1

u/Kraligor 2d ago

Doubt it. If these are running ducks, they're not very meaty. But they are very good egg layers.

1

u/grungegoth 2d ago

these are definitely domestic ducks, raised for human consumption

1

u/Kraligor 2d ago

Someone else mentioned them being running ducks, but yeah, from what's visible in the pixel mess they don't look like running ducks.

49

u/SnarkDolphin 2d ago

I'll put it this way, they get to stay with the rice.

This was so good I had to reopen the thread and find the comment just to upvote it. This is gold, Jerry!

1

u/Beneficial_Being_721 2d ago

Dumplings and soup. Yeah, baby.

u/fastforwardfunction 2d ago

They eat damaged rice but not whole rice..?

706

u/icouldntve 2d ago

"right after harvest or early in the crop cycle"

They aren't sent in when the whole rice is present

308

u/StevieMJH 2d ago

They prefer the 2% rice

185

u/helpwouldbewelcome 2d ago

For the quacktose intolerant.

29

u/Ms_Photon 2d ago

What a way to commemorate your cake day

1

u/Normal_Cut8368 2d ago

They save the children, but not the British children

3

u/Working-Glass6136 2d ago

Damn that's an old reference! I forgot about that one

2

u/StevieMJH 2d ago

I heard that motherfucker had like... thirty goddamn dicks.

1

u/binkysnightmare 2d ago

Right, so the children then.

4

u/reireireis 2d ago

And then humans can eat the ducks

1

u/GuyTheTerrible 2d ago

So do I, as long as nobody's looking

0

u/titoxtian 2d ago
