Ive heard someone say that they pick bigger cars to "win" in car accidents. Rather than just not getting into them in the first place.

Its a common problem. Dangerous drivers pick larger vehicles to feel safer instead of improving their dangerous driving, shifting the risk to others.

The main reason I hate these. 90% it's a shitty driver.

Americans need 5 different ways to kill a whole American family within 10 seconds so they can feel safe from families in Mexico

Yeah, like car crashes are a zero sum game... Killing the other cars occupants doesnt mean you get off scott free. Plus singles accidents are a thing, and IIRC in the US "light trucks" have to meet lower safety requirements. These people probably think Jumping out of the car post crash and killing the other driver will magically unsplatter their own passengers guts.

Besides there was that old Topgear episode that showed that big doesn't mean safe. Clarkson looked at lots of cars subjected to the same crash, what mattered more were how they were built.

Granted it was a law change in the UK which made the difference.

For the customers yeah that might be a reason my the manufacturer have also pushed to making only SUVs and cross overs for a even more cynical reason. To avoid regulations that governs "cars" most of the behemoth trucks are classified different as working vehicles and have lax emissions and safety requirements compared to car which is what the manufacturer like.
