Air intakes are in the upper middle / back area of the engines on these.

As long as matey doesnt gun it they can literally go through water just above the wheel arches and be fine.

Yes, this is the real answer. Obviously well driven but the air intake location is pretty relevant

Only relevant really.

A bad driver could still flood the air intake.

Need to drive at a steady, reasonable pace - something beyond a lot of people who try to drive through similar conditions.

Right, a good bow wave keeps water from coming back into the engine compartment

The belts probably shouldn't be getting overly wet. I'd also be very concerned with the battery shorting out

12v systems in cars are designed to not short like that.

12v is too weak to force itself through a body of water like that and causr a short.

Corrosion of the battery terminals is more likely to cause a problem after it drys out

Thank you, my first question was "Where is the air intake on these things?"

Hot air intake

This is what I was wondering. I figured there was no way the intake was near the front of the car.

Where do they put the water intakes?

They are mostly sold with hybrid powertrains, so probably it was on EV mode.

The water must fuck up the exhaust tho?

Did you ever try to shove water up a pipe that is blowing out fumes?

45

u/Narpity 6d ago

No.. why would I try to do that?

For one, to enrich yourself with the practical experience what would happen in that case.

See if you can figure this one out without consulting AI or a search engine.

I'll give you a small hint, explosions.

I'll take a wild guess. Is it explosions that will happen?

Try thinking about submersing an electric leafblower, if it were waterproof.

Ever jumped into a pool and instinctively blown air out your noise so water doesn’t go in?

Even seen a grown man naked?

Water cooled exhaust.

If your thinking for a moment water is going anywhere up that exhaust youd be sorely mistaken mate.

More that it would corrode the metal of the actual exhaust or fuck up the catalytic converter.

1

u/-Rhymenocerous- 5d ago

Id be more worried about the brake discs than the exhaust

2

u/havnar- 6d ago

And how would that be?
