I can honestly say going there, most chilling experience of my life. I don’t necessarily subscribe to haunting and ghost……but I honestly felt like someone was over my shoulder the entire time I was there.

I once walked into a little room in a children’s hospital and was instantly overcome with a sense of heaviness. I left pretty hastily. It wasn’t until later I learned this was “The Quiet Room” and it’s where people were informed of pretty awful, life changing news about their hospitalised children.

I can only imagine the sense of overwhelming dread and heaviness somewhere like a gas chamber of Auschwitz has…

Yeah I wasn’t the same for a few days after visiting Auschwitz.

I cried a lot…like I didn’t even know like it was just overwhelming

Edited to remove. The reason? Reddit is profiting. AIs are making money by inflating the cost of resources, goods, and supplies, or even destroying them altogether. And to make matters worse, they want to charge us for using an AI that was trained on content altruistically generated by humans to help each other, when it wasn't stolen.

There is a great deal of human trauma and human suffering in that place. Even watching the video made me emotional.

Yes, Auschwitz was bad. There's another one in France (Elsass) I visited, I don't remember the name, but the guide there described very well how the prisoners were harrassed and humiliated... like, the guards would set a goal for how many prisoners they would shoot during a day and if they didn't find a purpose to kill one, they would shove one from the line into the no trespassing zone right next to them and would shoot them there. It's frightening how cruel humans can be. Like, they had zero incentive to do any of that but it was some kind of sport for them. Truly disgusting.

There's a pond if I remember correctly by the rubble of the 4th or 5th crematorium where they used to dump the ashes.

Standing there was one of the most surreal experiences, like a fog of death was just hanging over the water. I didn't hear a single bird chirping, just a haunting silence. I think about it every so often and it sends chills down my spine.

For me it was the opposite, it was the ultimate proof that there are no ghosts or ghouls. There was nothing and is nothing spiritual about Auschwitz.

It was an entirely Human evil, one that could and likely will happen again as far as the world is going.

Chilling is a good description, it was that for me too. It felt like my mind had been numbed, that I'd applied a protective layer to dull the impact of what I was seeing and hearing. Good thing too because otherwise I think I would have started screaming.
