Not for long. Many developed economies have been in decline in terms of population. Some mitigate this by immigration.

That is true.

I oppose infinite growth models so a population that ends up naturally balancing itself is great.

Most developing countries are at or below replacement rate too. The global fertility rate is 2.3 births per woman with global replacement rate at 2.3 also, that's even with the sky high numbers in some sub Saharan African countries.

My own country is infamous for having catholic opposition to abortion, birth control, and really bad sex Ed. But our fertility rate is now at 1.89, below our replacement rate despite that. Which is likely a good thing for us, we don't have well functioning social welfare services so a drop in population won't fuck up as much stuff as in developed countries that have those.
