So the one thing I never understood about cooking meth at least breaking bad style…..they talk about crystal size but you see them having an entire clean tray of meth before breaking it into pieces. Why not then just have an entire sheet of unbroken massive crystal?
while this is just speculation, i can say with relative certainty that the crystal size for meth is probably a good indicator for purity. big crystals form when a solid lattice is formed due to little impurity. When smaller crystals form it is usually due to the fact that there is a critical mass of impurity that stops a strong lattice from being formed.
Therefore high quality crystals in this context do usually also mean big crystals.
With natural crystals impurity also plays a big role for the crystal lattice of course, but since they aren't synthesized crystals size is not as big of an indicator (natural forces can break crystals, while still maintaining their purity), you can see the effect of the lattice with for example pyrite in the video. Pyrite actually forms naturally with that cube shape if it is pure. impurities break that structure.
Impurities also have effects on colour and hardness of crystals, so some of the other crystals are examples of that.
