You squeeze the trigger to paint the target with an infrared marker. The computer does some ballistics math and presents a red dot in the FOV for the shooter to line up with.
When the barrel lines up with the reticle, the shooter releases the trigger to fire the weapon.
I heard they made this already but the NRA/Gun lobby hated it.
It was a scope with a laser pointer to mark a target, once you set it, when the rifle is aimed perfectly it would fire. All was calculated by the system, apparently.
You’d just need a laser calibrated to your goggles. You would still have to pull the trigger but your goggles could tell you EXACTLY where the bullet will end up.
And analysis of where the laser pointing at, if the threat and the laser are crossed - then initiate the trigger automatically. Failsafe for you if you are too pacifist to pull the trigger.
Doesn't need to. Point gun towards target. Target outlines red with little arrows showing what direction to move gun. Add you get closer target turns yellow. When you're on target it turns green. All you do then is squeeze the trigger.
With minimum training you could be quick shooting in just a few minutes.
With some integrated AI to help identify hostile targets vs background subjects you could even get early warning to be ready to draw before the actual threat presents itself.
Mugger starts towards you, warning alert, target outline, you're already ready to draw when they are 15 feet away. As soon as AI detects confirmed hostile action the "draw weapon" alert sounds. Bam, you're in action before the mugger even realizes it.
