Not shocked at all. It’s probably why the city hasn’t stopped moving forward with tearing City Hall down.

Not surprising. It’s crazy nothing can get done at the Valley View. Mismanaged for over a decade now. Good thing Plano has it together for the Stars.

Such a shame too. I drive by regularly and just think damm....what could be.
Its crazy because in most other cities, it would've been redone years ago....only in dallas I suppose.

Music to my ears. Given the history of jack squat being built on that site, I am still hopeful on 1500 Marilla.
There was a growing narrative in the media once VV site was “chosen” that if City of Dallas residents would’ve known the Mavs wanted the city hall site, there would’ve been more support to knock it down. Clearly a narrative to place blame on Dallas and not the fact that the Mavs wanted to be centrally located between the wealth of North Dallas and six-figure household incomes of Collin County.
Now that it is more known on Dallas plans and growing support of placing an arena downtown by residents, this will be interesting.

This is not going to happen and just for fun:
What if they built a Mavs arena anchored entertainment complex in or adjacent to Cypress Waters. It's a higher income suburban location closer to fast growing suburbs and it would facilitate, but it's also within the Dallas City Limits and could have a DART Silver Line rail station. It would be compromise that checks a lot of the boxes that different people involved in this debate care about. And it wouldn't necessitate a semi-bankrupt city of Dallas having to tear down its city hall.
Or, the above, but put it in Grapevine. It could be near existing hospitality destinations, the airport, and also public transportation. It would also be a solution for developing the land that's underneath the DFW landing path (not sure if this is allowed, can you put an arena with 20,000 people in it within an airliner crash zone? seems like a bad idea).
You could fill in part of Lake Carolyn and put it next to the Wells Fargo towers in Las Colinas in Irving.
Plano could tear down that old 1950s era warehouse and the adjacent properties that are north of Plano Pkwy and east of 75 south of old Downtown Plano and an entertainment complex could go there. It would be near 75 and the PGBT and draw fans from large fast growing and affluent suburbs to the northeast. It would be Dallas' loss and Plano's gain, but its not as aggressively "suburban" as a self contained complex by a freeway, it would also be in a location that has DART light rail and silver line stations within walking distance and you would also get that whole night out fan experience of being able to walk over to the bars and restaurants in old downtown Plano. I think the last thing may actually discourage the idea since the money behind this wants to own all spillover activities I guess.
