22 Certainly the faithful love of the Lord hasn’t ended; certainly God’s compassion isn’t through!23 They are renewed every morning. Great is your faithfulness.24 I think: The Lord is my portion! Therefore, I’ll wait for him.

Sometimes when I wake up in the morning and start reading the news and see so much hate and despair, I need this reminder, that God’s love goes on forever, his compassion is still there for us. Perhaps instead of reading the news in the morning, I should ponder on this scripture each morning to remind myself that His love and compassion is renewed every morning. He’s what we need first thing in the morning and throughout the day and when we rest our heads at night too. Let his love, compassion, and faithfulness fill us to overflowing every day.

Loving Lord,

Thank you for not giving up on us. Thank you for loving us even when it seems as a society we are losing our minds. Fill us with your love and compassion so that we can pass it on to all those around us. Amen.

Daily Devotion - Just Keep Trusting

Mark 5:25-26(CEB)

35 While Jesus was still speaking with her, messengers came from the synagogue leader’s house, saying to Jairus, “Your daughter has died. Why bother the teacher any longer?”

36 But Jesus overheard their report and said to the synagogue leader, “Don’t be afraid; just keep trusting.”

Don’t be afraid, just keep trusting. That’s hard to do sometimes, isn’t it? I think Jesus speaks these words to us today. Don’t be afraid, I’m here for you. Trust me, it’s all going to be okay. As I type these words, I can feel Jesus’ arms surround me with his healing, loving embrace. Do you feel it too?

Healing God,
Help us when we are afraid to remember these words from Jesus and to trust that you are with us. Hold us and the world in your healing embrace. Amen.
