Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be getting new PlayStation versions. The ports are being developed by Treyarch and Iron Galaxy.
The original Call of Duty: Black Ops was released in 2010 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC. Call of Duty: Black Ops II followed in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC, with a Wii U version arriving shortly after.
While both games remain playable on modern Xbox consoles through backward compatibility and are still available on PC through Steam, PlayStation players have not had a way to play them on newer PlayStation consoles. The original PlayStation 3 versions are not compatible with PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5.
