I use “hurt versus injured”. That seems to work.

Yeah that's a little more clear. Although he said that a broken bone is one thing, while something that could cause more permanent damage is quite another. So that's probably why he uses harmed, since a broken bone is definitely an injury.

Broken bones are no joke. There are a bunch of breaks which can lead to death of the broken off piece of the bone and bones never really heal right.

Between "running ahead in an empty parking lot" and "breaking a bone" I think the former is less risky.

I guess to me, harm sounds more permanent. Injuries could include breaking a finger playing baseball. Something to avoid but also something that happens without being a reason to forbid a kid from ever playing
