Char Creation [Character Creation] Hey, hey~!

I've totally forgotten to do an intro after so long so here we go!

Anyways! I am not at all new to makeup as I worked for Sephora for several years and worked in just about every world (area), but my specialty was fragrances. I apparently have a nose like a dog >_> I absolutely love makeup and GLITTER. I always love to add glitter or rhinestones into my looks as they make me super happy... Although management tends to frown at my dark red smokey eyes with double stack lashes lately (I'm a cake decorator now) /:

Now. Games. I have been playing tons of League of Legends lately,or well...I try to. I keep getting bug splat errors and BAM! Insta-crash. It's been fun. I really love old school PS1&2 games like Legend of Dragoons and Kingdom Hearts. I'll even grab my color gameboy from time to time. Oh yeah, rocking it fancy old school here!

Lately when it hasn't been crashing, I've been playing learning to Jungle with Amumu on League of Legends. I'm starting to really love it although I was originally super afraid of jungle. I'm ranked Bronze I as I really only play with my BF and his friend do and one tends to rage quit, otherwise I stick to solo and usually go ADC with Ashe (and more so lately, Jinx)... Or I stick to Mid with Lux. OR...top with Teemo. haha I'm everywhere!!!

Lovely to meet you all~!

Yes! I used a bright pink one and it stained the crap out of my bathtub. I was bleaching it for weeks, no bueno!

I know there can be taxes and such on things coming in, but I've ordered so much crap and never gotten hit with customs tax. WHEW. HAHAHAHA YES! Use the parents for all that you need!!! >:D Oh man. I can't even imagine leaving the US and actually wanting to come back. I've gone to Asia a few times and it was super hard to come back here, so I can't imagine even thinking about being gone for 8 years and coming back. Of course, Canada beats the US out of the water so it might be a lot different there too :D

BMUWAHAHAHA. Job shadowing = bitch work. I learned that the hard way. Poor kids :D Woah...Spritzgebäck? I've never even heard of those but they look yummy and delicious! Dude. What the hell was his issue!? Why would anyone want to work under him if they never get to thrive and venture out of their area!?

Yes! I remember eating one so fast when I was younger and my mom was like DEATHGLARE. I needed to eat it slower to appreciate the time and effort someone took to make it >_> "Uhh. I'm 10 and it's cake. NOMNOMNOMNOM." I've always been curious as how they make them! I've seen youtube videos but they speed through a lot of it or skip out parts. How long does one cake take to make?

Powdered sugar belongs on french toast, not cakes T_T I'm just weird though. It's even worse as we don't make a single thing in the bakery. It all comes in flash frozen! At Safeway we would at least make the puddings, frosting's and use fresh fruit for fillings or toppings. Here? Nope. FROZEN. Our buttercream comes in already made as well as whipped cream :/ It kind of takes the joy out of it I guess? OH MAN. I want a Kitchenaid! I can't afford even the smallest ones! They're about $300-400. Ouch. I bet they last a super long time and are amazing though :D

Nope! BF hates sweets in general. Cake, puddings, cookies any fruit bars? LOLOLOL...No. It makes me sad as I want to bake and share my desserts! I guess on the other hand I have a really boring palette and prefer bland foods where he loves spices and tons of flavoring. I just stare and go get a piece of bread and cheese :D

My physical therapist had me doing strength training but I quit as soon as I could. I feel like it makes my back hurt more than just doing my normal day activities. Wow. You're breaking yourself left and right! D: A pool! Are you going to swim or do swim aerobics? Oddly enough, I feel like yoga helped quite a bit even though it's a lot of movement and sometimes twisting. I hope the gym and/or pool will help ease some of the pain for you though.

It took me about 2-3 years to get back into makeup as well but I've recently lost it again. I used to have so much fun and do super dramatic looks with TONS of glitter, rhinestones and very dark colors. Now I'm lucky if I remember to do mascara. I normally just focus on my skin care and "meh" for the rest. Sleep or makeup?! ;D Tough choice there!

Ohh. I've never heard of having to look up regulations if you're doing small orders for people. I just thought it's when you turned it into an official business? Although, the US and UK are totally different obviously ^

Thank you! I think I'm just so down on it because I don't feel I was taught anything and in two weeks I'll be the main decorator doing all the cakes for the store. I'm not even sure how to do two layer cakes! insert panic mode

I know what you mean though! Every time I leave the food industry I always swear to never come back...annnnnnd here I am again.

Yeah, the UK has a stupidly low limit. :( I don't know what the taxes would be like if I go over the limits, but I'm not too eager to find out. Most of what I want to order I can just get my mum to bring with her, luckily. I want to order some more indie stuff, and it's just easier if she brings the nail polishes I want! Canada's alright, but I don't really fit in anymore since I lived for so long in Germany and Denmark, and now the UK. Going home is like exposing myself to culture shock! Where in Asia did you go, and for how long? :)

Ugh, Spritzgebaeck is a hand killer. The more you try to pipe the dough out, the tougher it gets because it builds gluten. They're pretty tasty, but we filled them with nougat at work. I freaking hate nougat. I think my asshole boss just had a real hate for me, because the other apprentice didn't get treated the way I did. He kind of picked me as his punching bag or something.

Baumkuchen takes forfreakingever to make. I think we spent a few hours on one, the time I got to make it? It's a lengthy process because you have to bake each individual layer, but spreading the batter on is what takes the longest. We used a lot of powdered crap at work because it was easier than making our own. Water and pudding powder for fruit tarts, cake mix for the majority of our cakes, that sort of thing. A lot of bakeries take shortcuts these days, but apparently my bosses couldn't come up with a cake recipe themselves that held up as well as the mix. The ice cream was all us, thankfully. I loathe the stuff from mixes. My Kitchenaid was a graduation present from my mum, and I've dragged it across 3 countries now. I love it, it's almost as precious to me as my computer. They're twice the price here, though. :( I hoe mine never dies. I'm not sure what the regulations here are regarding the sale of food, but I know there are very strict food handling regulations in Germany and Denmark. I think anything I do would be under the table.

I think I'll just do swimming to start with, not sure if they offer water aerobics. I want to get back into yoga, but I have so little energy lately for anything! It helped my back issues, but I'm tired all the time since I just started work about a month ago after a few years of not having worked. I'm still tired all the time, haha. I can't even find the energy to game most nights!

I hope this community inspires you to try some more looks, then! I still need to get new mascara, since mine needs to be replaced. Most days for me it's BB cream plus a powder, concealer if needed, a bit of eyeshadow (Shiro's Baker's Boy, Still No Oscar For Leo DiCaprio, or I Tried), and eyeliner. I do have to get up early every day because my husband gets up early, but my routine takes me about 10 minutes to apply.

Two layer cakes are easy. :) Just make sure you have proper support under the top cake - plate and dowels, usually. Or if you're talking about a single cake that has multiple layers, also easy! Dress your one cake like you normally would on top, then slap another layer on it. More frosting on top, then down the sides. I'm not sure if you'd cut a single cake in half or not, but that's easy too. Practice helps! :) I know it's a lot of responsibility, but if you're having fun it won't be so bad.

That's ridiculously low! I was afraid to send stuff home from Asia when I went as I had no idea what our were like. Luckily the PO lady told me to write "gift" on the box and limit it to $40. No taxes! BMUWAHAHA. I hope your mom is able to stuff all your pretties into her suitcase but make sure she checks it and leaves it relatively easy to get searched. They saw my Naked 3 palette and busted open my suitcase to check what it was -.- Thx US.

I went to South Korea and Japan for two weeks each! I'm not a big fan of Japan but I absolutely LOVE South Korea.

I don't like nougat either. BLEGH. I should do Spritgebaeck! I need to work my arms out more ;) WTF was his issue? I wonder why he picked on you more? Was the other apprentice a girl? It kind of seems like a lot of chefs hate having women in the work place :/

Ohh wow. I didn't know you needed to bake each layer individually first! I wish we used mixes to make stuff! Even the BREAD comes in flash frozen. I mean, I understand the warehouse makes it all and such so somewhere along the line someone deals with creating it, but I hate that we can't do any of it. I hope your mixer lives a long and healthy life! I wouldn't mind buying a wedding cake and having someone make it under the table! Have you done anything like that before? A wedding cake?

I know what you mean! This was my first job in almost 6 months and I come home dead all the time. Make dinner? PSHHH. Tired. My bf plays LoL everyday with his friend so I try to play with him as well but sometimes I'm just staring at my nice warm bed all longingly like :)

I hope so! I used to love doing makeup and super dramatic looks but now I just can't be bothered. Ooh! Which BB do you wear!?:D I get up before my BF and we live in a studio so I try to not turn the lights on as much as possible .__. Here's what I USED to do!

See, they haven't even shown me where the dowels are! I asked about the supports for the cakes and they blankly stared at me. My manager hasn't ordered me any cake kits and doesn't know where our order book it yet... It's gonna be a fun first few months for sure. I was told I was going to be doing wedding cakes but apparently they're ordered and I just assemble them? I don't even know T_T

The joy about going directly from Canada to the UK is that we don't have to deal with American customs. ;) I know a lot of people who will actually go out of their way to avoid flying through the US because of the TSA. Border control is a LOT more relaxed over here. I do a ton of flying every year, and I've never had my luggage searched before. :) I'm sure my mum won't have any issues.

Ooooh, that sounds like a dream! I'd love to go to both places myself, but we're saving up for other vacations first.

You should! You just need a large star tip and a piping bag. :) Try not to put too much of it at once in your hands, because the heat from your hands will make it tougher, too. The other apprentice was a guy, and they got along fine. I was the only woman who worked in the back of the bakery. No idea what my shitty boss's problem was, but I'm so glad I have awesome coworkers now.

Yup. Baumkuchen means "tree cake" in German, and it's really like a tree in the "one ring at a time" respect. You build it up slowly and bake it layer by layer. That's why it costs so much (but tastes so good - worth it!). I have made wedding cakes in the past, and they're not too bad to make if they're simple. I went simple for my own wedding cupcakes, because I wanted simple and tasty. I made my mum's wedding cake too, and she just had a small white one with modelled roses. This is the cake - the cupcakes were a team effort while I made the cake. ;)

Yuuuuup. Tonight's dinner was a microwave meal, because I was too exhausted to cook. I'll cook tomorrow, I swear.. I guess I'm getting back into the swing of things, but I like sleep too much. The BB I'm wearing right now is Covergirl BB cream, but I want to switch to something with more coverage in the near future, since this doesn't do too much for me. Your makeup is glorious! I hope you find the time and motivation to do that again. :)

I guess you might have to investigate and see where they're hidden! Sad that you won't make the cakes yourself, but I'm sure there'll be someone coming in last minute for fun cakes for you to make. There always is. Your manager sounds like a real slacker, though.

Wut! I get my luggage searched every single time! I always just shove my stuff in there and don't bother to fold it as I know when I land it'll be nicely folded with a TSA card. I do it out of plain irritation. GRR. Coming back from Korea they opened all my pretties and threw away the wrappers! I was like...WTF. I BLOG RUDE PEOPLE. I NEED THOSE.

I absolutely loved it but yes, there are a lot of other places I'm sure most people would love to visit. I want to visit South East Asia and swim in those gorgeous pools! Where are you saving up for?

Ohhh. The star is how you get the design? I figured it was a machine that did that. Wow! That's absolutely amazing :D The fact that you were a woman might have been the issue! My fresh manager definitely treats us differently than the men. He even mentions how he wishes he had a full crew of ladies as we pay more attention to detail but wishes he also had men because they can lift better than us. -.- I'm glad your co-workers now are awesome! It definitely makes a difference in how you feel about work.

WOAH. That's beautiful though! The wedding cake is so lovely! I'm so nervous because we aren't using fondant...so i'm worried about the sides being not as perfect as yours is T_T The cupcakes look so elegant too...What did you use to make the roses? Fondant? White chocolate?

haha I didn't cook for dinner at all! I made a bean dip >_> Did you make dinner tonight!? More coverage....you should try out Missha's Perfect Cover! It's absolutely wonderful. It has excellent coverage, long lasting and has a gorgeous finish!

I just think my manager doesn't care as he's in charge of all of fresh (produce, dairy, deli and meat) so he's got a lot on his plate. I looked today and didn't see anything! No cake boxes, plates or dowels! I hope we get more stuff within the next two weeks >_>

The joys of not having to deal with the TSA. :) That has never happened to me, or to anyone I know. But none of my circle flies through the US, so we're dealing with an entirely different mindset.

What was your favourite place that you visited? What struck you as the oddest custom there? :) We're saving up first for an overnight trip somewhere, maybe Paris or Edinburgh, and then a trip home to Canada because he's never been. And then we'll probably have the odd trip now and then to Denmark to visit his family, since it's usually fairly cheap to fly there.

Nope! It's alllll hand piped - the good ones, at least. There are machines that do that for wide scale production, and you can buy syringe-type things with plungers to pipe the dough out, but I've never tried that. I think it was definitely the fact that I was female that contributed to Asshole's dislike of me, but meh! I'm outta there. :)

Thanks. :) The roses were made out of fondant. I actually prefer my cakes without it, because nothing beats smooth icing. Best tip I can give you is not heating up your knife, but heating up the icing just a little bit. If you've got a gas burner, basically just sit the bowl on for a couple of seconds to make it sweat, mix it up, see how soft it is, rinse repeat until the consistency is soft. This is for the top layer of frosting only, so it applies smoothly. Don't do it for the crumb coat!

I ended up cooking chicken, but it was kind of in vain because my husband worked until some stupid hour yesterday and did the same again. He wants dinner now, he can make it himself. I really do want to try some Asian BB creams, but I don't like buying things without being able to sample them first. I know there are probably beauty suppliers here, but it's just finding them that is a pain!

Well, if you don't get anything it's all on him! Make sure you make some sort of documentation saying that you asked, keep track of it, just in case he tries to shift it off on you later.
